Cheapest day yet!

On Sunday, we hopped on the local transportation as far south as it goes. It only costs 15 baht ($0.42 USD, $0.57 CAD) per person no matter how far you go.

So we went right to the end of the line, and walked down to the beach. There is small "island" at the end. Not really an island, but when the tide is all the way in, it looks like it is.

Another baking hot day, with a high of 34C (93F). But this time, there was hardly a cloud in the sky. Usually it's been quite hazy.

People out enjoying the day.
Notice the monkey at the left.

He was going to try to steal something, but they chased him away.

The tide is all the way out.

We went over to the "island" and climbed some stairs for the view.

Lots of colorful flowers!

There are monkeys on this little island.
The tide is all the way out, so they must swim back and forth.

Nice view of the beach at Hua Hin.

Looking south.

Another view looking north.

This one came over and sat right in front of us.
They are very docile.

We went back and walked along the beach for a while.

Looking back at the "island".

Some people call it Monkey Island.

There are thousands of these tiny crabs on the beach. Most of them are about 1/2" long.

And there are weird little piles of sand, apparently made by lug worms.
We didn't see any of the worms themselves.

We found a local street food place and we each had a nice lunch for a total of 80 baht ($2.25 USD, $3 CAD). That the total... for the two of us!

Then for dinner, we didn't order any drinks and had a meal each for a total of 135 baht ($3.75 USD, $5.10 CAD).

So including our accommodation and meals out and the local bus, that was all we spent all day. The total for the day came to 932 baht ($26 USD, $35 CAD).

Of course we had breakfast, and a couple of adult drinks for happy hour from our own fridge. But those were bought on a different day. So it will average out higher. We'll do a cost analysis of our two weeks here when we leave. But suffice to say, it's a pretty cheap place to live if you do so on a longer term basis.
