If it would stay like this all winter...

We couldn't really have asked for a much better day. Sure, the temperature could still have been a few degrees higher, but if it were like this for the rest of the winter, we would be fine with that!

My mother mentioned to us that considering the weather we have had, we would have been better off in Mexico. And from a weather perspective, that is certainly true.

We have friends who are in Mexico right now, and yes... we envy their shorts and t-shirts and tamales and enchiladas and tacos. But we are on a different path right now, and we want to explore different parts of the world. And if the weather isn't perfect, well that's just the way it is. And if it gets to the point where we need a break, then we'll fly somewhere warmer for a few weeks!

View out the windshield Sunday morning.

Max, enjoying the view.

The water is so clear.

We could be tempted to stay longer.

But we're not really prepared. We need to get laundry done, and our fresh water is getting low.

Time to go for a hike!

Looking back at the mountains we came through during the snow on Saturday.

We came down through this mountain pass.

As we were hiking up, we had seen a white van leaving from another dirt road that I knew led down to another small beach. But I had read that it was recommended for four wheel drive only, and Max was quite happy where he was. But we decided to hike down there and just have a look at it anyhow.

Looking down on the little cove where we are parked.

The road isn't so bad at this point, but it does get worse!

Rough rocky shoreline.

Ruth, testing the waters.
She said it was warmer than she expected, but definitely not warm enough for swimming!

Scenery along the way.

Nice little private beach.

We were just getting ready to head back when I saw the same white van returning. I was kind of surprised because the road really is quite bad! But they headed down looking like they knew exactly what they were doing.

The woman got out and was taking photos of the van coming down.

Damjan and Janja are from Slovenia. And it turns out that their van is only 2 wheel drive, but they have extensive experience off roading and also have all the necessary gear with them to get them back out. I'm confident they know what they are doing. They have done a lot of four wheel drive overland trips to western Africa. They invited us to sit and have a drink and it was such a beautiful afternoon.

What a great free campsite!

They are also headed for Turkey so it's possible we will bump into them again.

Today, we are moving on. It will be a day of chores though, as we have to do laundry, find some fresh water, pick up a few groceries, and fill one of our propane tanks which apparently is not as easy to do in Greece, so we had better start looking now. Also, Max is going for his first boat trip!

  1. What a beautiful coastline, love the variety of scenery you have been through in the last few days and of course the weather conditions

    1. It really is a beautiful coastline along that section but where we are now, doesn't thrill us as much, we would much prefer the coastline where we were parked in this post. And yes, the blue sky and sunshine made it all the better. :-)
