A Christmas feast

We woke up Christmas Day to a few raindrops, and it was mostly cloudy all day but we did manage to get out for a bit of a walk. Otherwise, it was a relaxing day and we played a few games of backgammon, cribbage, and yahtzee.

Then later on, Ruth made a fabulous Christmas dinner, and we had a good zoom call with my side of the family.

Here are a few photos of our day...

The strange things you come across washed up on the beach.
I wonder how far this ship sailed?

This fellow has been hanging around since we arrived.

Ruth had saved a big bone from a roast we had earlier, and he was pretty happy to have won that jackpot!

We can't fit a turkey in our oven, but we can fit a big chicken!

That sure does make the interior of the motorhome smell good!

Serving it up!

Christmas dinner is served!

Delicious!

Even the dog got some of the scraps from the chicken. This spot is frequented by campers on a regular basis, so we think he does all right. He could have stood to gain a pound or two, but he was otherwise in good shape. Really gentle too.

We had a good Zoom call with my mother and sisters and son and daughter and the grandkids. Everyone is doing well, except due to freezing rain on Christmas Day in Ottawa, they weren't able to get together themselves.

Today, we move further south.

And in Canada...

    1. We do too! It actually sort of made us feel like we were in Mexico and at other times like we were in the middle of the desert!

Dinner turned out perfectly, we were just missing the cranberry sauce, lol.

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas together. :-)

    1. We won't say it was beautiful, it was nice but not beautiful and it was interesting. It was also very, very quiet which we enjoyed. :-)

  3. Christmas dinner looks delish. On google search, there are apparently abandon buildings and even whole cities in Greece due to Turkish invasion. Some are still under Turkish military rule even tho no one lives there anymore. I couldn't find anything about the Anemochori abandon homes on beach.

    1. Our Christmas dinner was delicious! :-)

Yes, there are some abandoned cities in Greece and we will probably be seeing at least one of them on this trip. I don't think there are any that are actually in Greece under Turkish military rule but there was one Greek town in Turkey that was abandoned. We went and visited it when we were in Turkey last year. www.travelwithkevinandruth.com/2020/10/ghost-town-of-kayakoy-and-hike-to-af.html

    1. The only thing missing was the cranberry sauce and Christmas triffle for desert. You were lucky not to have to cook! :-) I find it isn't so much the cooking of dinner, it is the cleaning up afterwards that I hate.

    2. Since you do all/most of the cooking, Ruth, I hope Kevin does most of the cleanup! Your dinner looked lovely and delicious. Wish I could have shared some of my homemade cranberry sauce with you -- I made a double batch, and it is tasty indeed. Love your empty "campsite".

    3. No, Kevin does enough other things like all the driving, the blog, the majority of the research and his other work on the internet and he empties the toilet tank, lol. I look after the cooking and the cleanup and label pictures. It all balances out in the end.

      Your cranberry sauce sounds delicious!
