September Expenses

Well, a pretty good month, all things considered.

We spent a total of $1,736 CAD ($1,304 USD) for the month. And once again, the amount reinforces the fact that we spend as much money staying in one place here in Canada as we do when we're traveling and seeing new sights virtually every day when we're traveling in a motorhome.

Here's how it all broke down... (the following figures are all in $CAD. For $USD equivalent, you can subtract about 25%...)

Gasoline: We spent $128 on fuel for the month. The little red rental car is not very thirsty! August was $109 in comparison.

Groceries: Again, not bad at $511. August was $548. And I think we ate pretty well including the $45 or so I spent on filet mignon for the lunch I made at our boys weekend away. And it seems that we have bought too much food... we are only here for another 11 days or so and the freezer has too much food in it. I would expect our grocery bill for October will be quite a bit lower.

Alcohol: We kind of jumped off the wagon for the month of September, especially when I include the $54 bottle of Four Roses bourbon that I bought to share with my friends on the boys weekend away! We spent a total of $217 for the month.

Miscellaneous: We spent a total of $300, but $200 of that was for our annual mail forwarding service (thanks to you know who you are!). The balance was $60 for internet access, and the warranty shipping for Ruth's new Tilley hat, and the material to repair my glasses.

Entertainment: $10 for some ice creams we bought while out with the kids today!

Travel: We didn't really travel very far, but we do put transportation expenses in this category and that includes our car rental for the month. We had some Visa points built up, so although the car rental was billed out at $730 or so for the month, we only paid $569.

So there you have it. $1,736 CAD ($1,304 USD) for the month.

Next month, October, will be  fair bit higher. We have to expense the flights to England, and the flights to Berlin, and well as accommodation expenses for about 18 nights. It's going to add up!

  1. Well Kevin and Ruth,
You two travel like us, I read about the town I'm visiting,so I know something about it. But I'm also open to quicker side of the town. That's where I see some of the characters!
We hope you take a lot of pictures where you are staying, and the characters in town! Bet you'll enjoy whatever comes your way, Peace, Rawn and Joann

    1. We do always try to have an idea of what to expect when we get to certain towns and cities but other times it will just be a spur of the moment visit and we are often pleasantly surprised. I am sure that we will be taking lots of pictures as we travel along and explore, not sure how many characters we will come across though because we will still be trying to keep our distance from people and congested places due to COVID.
