One of the prettiest campsites in Mexico

We were happy at the place we had stayed Wednesday night, and would have been prepared to stay another night. But Ruth and I had found a better spot just a couple of kms down the road. The sign at the entrance had said it was a community campground and it was 50 pesos per person to camp overnight. But there was nobody around and the gate was wide open. We had paid 200 pesos per rig where we were, so not only was the place down the road better... it was also cheaper.

We set off at 9:00am for what would be a very short driving day!

It was only about 4 kms (2.6 miles), but it took us 40 minutes to get there. There was a rough dirt road leading to the beautiful meadow and there were a few low hanging tree branches we needed to trim.

Bob, on Sherman's roof trimming some trees while I watch.

Rigs lined up behind me.

Bit of a rough road!

A bit of effort to get it all cleaned up for the bigger rigs to get through, but totally worth it in the end.

One of the prettiest campsites in Mexico.

Once we got settled a bunch of us went out hiking. There are a ton of trails to explore in the area.

We set off at about 11:15am and didn't get back until around 2:00pm. That was the third day in a row we had done a decent hike. I was tired and had a nice afternoon nap!

One section of the park has some developed trails.

Ruth, Denise, Jim, and Bob.

We made our way to a viewpoint.

This is a lookout that you can drive too.

But our hiking viewpoint was even better!

Jim and I made our way to the top first, then went back to get the others.

Some crazy rock climbers installed a cross up here!

Ruth made her way up too!

Can you see the wasp nest.

I'll zoom in for you.

What a great area. We could easily spend four or five nights here.

At happy hour we celebrated Larry and Martha's anniversary. It's not actually until the 14th, but they need to get back into the United States earlier than planned and so they are splitting off with us during today's drive and heading for the border. We will miss them during the last two and a half weeks of the trip.

Happy Anniversary Martha and Larry!

Still lots of love around after all these years.

One last group photo!
Roy, Sue, Martha, Aron, Owenita, Mona, Roger, Larry, Ruth, Kevin, Garth, Jim, Denise, Bob... and of course Scarlett the dog!

Today, we are headed for Tolantongo where there is a waterfalls and hot springs complex.

    1. Thank you, we are pretty happy with the way the group shot turned out. :-)

After last year's trip, Bob realized that when you travel with Kevin and Ruth and you happen to be the tallest right then, hedge clippers are a necessary item to bring along. lol!

We hope the snow stops soon, I am sure that winter won't last much longer for you and that you will soon be enjoying a beautiful spring. We will try to stay in these "warm" temperatures for as long as possible. :-)
