TransferWise

Everybody knows PayPal because it's been around for a long time now, and it's really convenient for sending or receiving money just about anywhere in the world.

But PayPal is ridiculously expensive to use. So when something is ridiculously expensive, it tends to bring out competitors.

So a few months ago, somebody told me about TransferWise.

I've personally used it several times now, and although it seems to be a day or two slower than PayPal, it's FAR cheaper.

For example... if you send $1,000 USD to Canada using PayPal, the recipient will end up with about $1,243 CAD.

But if you do the same transaction through TransferWise, your recipient will end up with $1,285 CAD.

That's $42 more, and you didn't have to do anything different except open an account!

The big difference is that PayPal takes a percentage of the exchange rate as a hidden fee, while TransferWise uses the real exchange rate.

So, if you ever need to send or receive money from a different country, I suggest you use TransferWise.

You can sign up for your own account here...

Yes, we get a little commission if you do. But that's just our payment for saving you money! Besides, I wouldn't have told you about it at all until we had personally used the service and found it to be worth our recommendation. And it is worth it.

  1. Kevin, I follow you and Ruth and really enjoy traveling along with you. What was your recommendation for the best roof coating for RV's?

    1. Well, thanks for following along, and we're glad that you enjoy the blog!

We used the Dicor product and we're glad that we did. Only thing I would have done differently was I would have put it on a bit thicker, and I would have done the job on a cooler day and in the shade. Otherwise, totally happy. We wrote about it here... (copy and paste the link...)

  2. I REALLY appreciate your honesty! Very nice knowing you WON'T endorse anything - until you've personally & timely test it out first; regardless of money or not! Always feel comfortable with your review of ANYTHING. Will be TRUE/HONEST review. It also would have to truly necessary if it were costly...so great traits; honesty & thrifty!

  3. Good to know. I will check it out. In Mexico, you can't find Dicor. We use the Mexican equivalent from Siko. I recently did some parts of our roof.

    1. I hope that the Siko works as well as the Dicor did for us.

  4. Paul has been using Dicor on the roof and is very satisfied with it. Our 20 plus year old Pauly has never had a leak! Knock on wood!
