More Trip Planning

We're getting spoiled with a continuous source of quality internet access! So I've been making the most of it and doing a lot of planning for the next five weeks. Of course you all know that we're headed for Iceland next week, but the rest of October is going to be busy as well!

Here's the plan so far. After Iceland, we fly to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Our daughter Lindsey, husband Justin (Happy Birthday Justin!) and our grandson Cameron live about an hour from Halifax in the beautiful Annapolis Valley. We haven't seen them since January when Lindsey and Cameron were in Mexico with us for three weeks.

Grandson Cameron sure is getting big! Can't wait to see them.

So we'll spend a week or so with them before making our way to Ottawa. Still not sure how we're getting to Ottawa, but we have a lot of choices we're working on.

Then, we'll spend a few days visiting Ottawa and family and friends. Hopefully no more than a week because by then it will already be around October 22! But Ruth's dad is supposed to be having some medical work done so some of that timing may change due to his recovery period. If the operation actually occurs, because Canada's great health care system isn't known for it's efficiency. This thing was supposed to have happened back in May, and even then they said they were rushing it through. Some rush!

During that week in Ottawa I will be getting the little blue car ready for the drive to Mexico. We're going to be doing the 4,600 km (2,800 mile) drive fairly quickly, although we do want to stop in and visit a couple of cities we've never been to. We're thinking Pittsburgh, PA, and Oklahoma City, OK as possible places to play tourist along the way.

Here's our probable route south.

If any of our readers want to offer us a bed for the night anywhere along our route, we'd be happy to take you up on that! Yes Sam and Donna, that (B) in the map above is St. Louis, so if your offer still stands it would be great to see you again!

So, it's going to be a busy October! Probably won't make it back to our favorite RV Park in Mexico until early November which is a little later than we figured, but then we'll be able to relax again for a bit. However, we'll have the little blue car with us this time, so there will be quite a bit more exploring to be done!

Today, we're taking the local bus into the city of Hereford. Tickets are £4.60 ($7.60) each for the return trip! It's only 11 miles (17 kms) each way so it's a little pricey. We're not in Czech Republic anymore!

  1. Just give as a date and I'll leave the light on for you , you don't need Sherman as we have our guest room back since the Grands moved out. No matter what nights you stay we'll make a couple of pizza's (one gluten free) for you Ruth. I will have to call Miller brewing to have an extra shift put on for me and Kevin. Soon as I saw that map I knew we would see you guys, The Weeb Ranch is the best place in Dardenne Prairie to stay anyway,Rigg's will be looking forward to a visit, any visit. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

    1. We think so too, but maybe we are just a little biased :)

Where do you live in PA? If it is close to our route we would love to meet you. Feel free to send us a private email at [email protected]

  8. I'm looking forward to your take on Iceland. Remember that Iceland defaulted on their loans a few years ago. Interesting to see how the country is doing at this time.

  9. Little Cameron is a cutie for sure. I've seen some beautiful photo's of Iceland, I think you are going to have a great stop there. I'd tell you to stop here for a night but I think we're on the wrong side of Canada. Right now Mexico sounds really good - starting to freeze almost every night here, snow is not far off. There's talk of us going to Belize for a month this winter - looking forward to that.

    1. Yes, his sure is a cutie. I think that British Columbia is a bit too far of a detour to make on our way to Mexico but who knows maybe we will be there next summer!

Belize would be a nice place to visit but it is more expensive than Mexico as it uses the American dollar.
