Thanks for your concern

We had quite a few messages from people worried about all the news events in Mexico on Sunday. Fortunately, Mexico City wasn't affected, and there was only a couple of blocked roads and vehicle fires 20 kms from our town of Valle de Bravo.

In fact, the local government put out a notice on Sunday and another on Monday saying that you might notice more security vehicles around town, but that otherwise things were operating normally.

So we're heading back to Mexico City on Wednesday, and I'm sure we won't even notice that there were any problems in the country at all. In fact, I've been reading today that even the problem areas are back to normal.

Sunday was a pretty quiet day for us. We went and did some shopping with Mike and Louise, then they took us up to the Mirador for some great views over the city.

Then in the afternoon, Mike and Louise had friends come over for a pizza dinner and we played a rousing game of Mexican Train. They are also looking after their friends dog for the week, so we had some furry company for the evening.

Next up... Quito!

  2. I have friends in Puerto Vallarta and they experienced a day of lock down and tension. Thinngs are returning to normal, but many shops and cars were destroyed and the clean up will probably take weeks.

    1. Glad to hear that your friends are fine and that things are returning to normal. They certainly have a big mess to clean up there, we saw the pictures of burned out buses, trucks, cars and quite a few businesses.

  3. We are in the Romantic zone in PV and things are getting back to normal. We sheltered in place on Sunday as 3 OXXO’s near us burned unattended and sent smoke our way. There were no police or emergency services. No transportation at all. The hotel workers stayed overnight and there was limited food available at the few places open. Deliveries have started again this morning and things are calm. The burned cars and buses are being removed. Our Monday flight to Seattle has been moved to Saturday.

    1. We are glad to hear that you are fine and that things are getting back to normal there. We are sure that it must have been very upsetting for you and for others in that area. The cleanup is going to take a bit of time and we feel bad for all those that were affected by the problems there..
Hopefully you are able to find somewhere to stay until your rescheduled flight on Saturday.
