Michel and Louise have been living here about three years now, so it's hard to find something new for them that they haven't done already! Anyhow, they took us for a drive east of Cuenca to the towns of Sigsig and Chordeleg.
Great scenery along the way, but not many good places to stop and take a photo.
We stopped at a small guitar making shop.
These tiny inlay pieces decorate the guitar.
Time consuming work.
Testing out the finished product.
I took classical guitar lessons for a few years when I was a teen and still remember quite a bit of it.
The church in Sigsig.
The Sigsig fruit and veggie market.
Local clothing shop.
These three locals had had a little too much carnival cheer!
We had lunch in Sigsig... I didn't take a photo but it was a filling meal of chicken, rice, and salad. With a shared jug of lemonade the bill was $18.75 USD ($25.50 CAD) for the four of us.
This cactus had a beautiful flower.
The church in Chordeleg.
Chordeleg is an old silver mining town, and there are many jewelry stores.
Giant silver earrings decorate the streetlights.
Chordeleg side street.
Local lady.
The central area was fairly busy.
