Camera sold!

The other day, I mentioned I wanted to sell our big Nikon P900 camera and instead get a smartphone with a good quality camera so that we could reduce the amount of stuff we have when we travel.

So the other morning, I listed the Nikon for sale on the kijiji website. And it sold within six minutes!

Kijiji is a popular online marketplace for used goods in Canada. 

I advertised the camera for $150, which I knew was a good deal. But it was getting worn out, and it had taken a lot of photos. Still, there was some life to it yet, and everything still worked the way it should.

Six minutes after I posted it, I got an email asking "is it still for sale?"

I answered that I only just posted it, and maybe I'm not asking enough money.

The person responds "if it's still for sale, I'll give you $200 for it if I can have it right now".

Huh?

I started thinking this must be a scam of some kind. But the person said they've been wanting this particular model for a long time, and it was worth it to them and they wanted to guarantee they could get it. 

Okay then! Coincidentally, the person was located in the same part of town. So we agreed on a meeting spot about ten minutes from here and I drove over. I was surprised that it was a girl in her twenties. The name had shown up as Yas, so I had no idea if it was a male or female.  Turned out to be Yasmine. I showed it to her and proved that everything worked as it should. She handed me two crisp $100 bills and we both left happy.

So there's that done! $200 to put towards the new smartphone.

Yesterday, we drove down to the St. Lawrence River at the town of Ingleside. Do you remember the friends we met up with in Canary Islands last February? 

Well, Bob and Denise live in Ingleside and its only an hour away from here and they had invited us for lunch.

Bob and Denise and Scarlett had been on the last two Mexico RV caravan trips that we did. Scarlett is getting on in years... she's 13 now. She still gets around pretty good, but she's definitely showing her age.

The other side of the river is New York state.

Lots of fun getting caught up with them. We all wondered where in the world we'll meet up again. We're thinking Sri Lanka in February of 2025. We'll have to see if that comes together!
