It's all a bit unorganized

Woke up Sunday morning at the cemetery outside of Bocairent. Peaceful night, even with three other motorhomes parked nearby. But the cemetery soon got busy. We would have thought that people would be in church Sunday morning, but I guess some of them visit their dead relatives on a Sunday morning. At one point, we didn't think we were going to be able to get out of the parking lot.

We left at about 10:30am. Not headed very far though. I love short driving days!

Not that I mind driving. I love it. But sometimes just short drives for a change of scenery are really good.

We were headed to the town of Castalla, only 30 kms (18 miles) away. Easily found the motorhome parking area beside the sports center. It's nothing special, and it's a bit oddly organized, but it's convenient for visiting the town. The reviews had said that it's free, unless you want electricity for €3 a night. Fair enough. But the sign actually says that it costs €3 a night and that electricity is included. Again, fair enough.

The sign also says that you're supposed to pay at either the sports center or the tourist office. The sports center was closed. We went for a walk after lunch to the tourist office... also closed, and doesn't open until Tuesday! So it's all a bit unorganized. We don't mind paying the €3, but we need to be able to give it to someone. We'll try the sports center again today.

Castalla Castle.

We decided to hold off and we will visit the castle today instead of yesterday. We're going to stay here for two nights. So we just wandered around the center of town.

It was a Sunday, and we were also wandering around during siesta. Almost all businesses close between 2-5pm every day, with some regional differences. So, things were really quiet.

Life size nativity display in the central area.

We noticed this town has a lot of Christmas lights set up, so we said to ourselves that we'll have to go for a walk in the evening as well.

Nobody around!

Nice kids park in the old part of town below the castle.

Scenery along the way.

Back at Max, we played a few games of backgammon, then I had my own siesta, then we played some cribbage.

After dinner, we went for another stroll in the dark.

Miniature nativity scene. Really well done.

Christmas lights in the center.

Still not many people around. I figured out later that it might have been because the world cup final game was on!

The full size nativity scene was all lit up.

The star of Bethlehem.

Christmas lights on the streets.

Looks like we're lucky with the weather. The forecast for the next week calls for mostly sunshine and highs between 17C and 21C. Not tropical, but we're fine with that. Great hiking weather.

Today, we head up to the castle!

Yesterday's drive, not very far!
