The big weekend is here!

It's a holiday weekend in both Canada and the United States. In Canada, the holiday is on the Friday and in the U.S. the holiday is on the Monday. So here, the campers will be pulling in later this afternoon.

This is the start of our six week busy season. We've still got some open sites though, so it won't be sold out for this weekend. We actually had a few cancellations called in yesterday which is too bad, but we kind of expected that with the water level being so low.

But, the low water level doesn't stop people from sitting around the campfire! So people will still be having a good time.

And today is the last day of the month which means we have already completed two months of our five month term here this season. And the next six weeks will go by really fast because the park will be busy. Next thing you know, we'll be winding things down. Time does seem to be going by quickly this year.

Ruth went into Swift Current yesterday on her own to do groceries and pick up a few things for the park. Now that we're into busy season, I will remain at the park until after mid August (other than a few drives into nearby Cabri).

The canola fields are in full bloom.

It's looking a little stormy in that direction.

Big sky country.

Look like it might be raining over in that direction.

I had been checking the weather forecast and looking at the radar and mapping. It didn't look like we were going to get any rain, and in fact there was none in the forecast. Then all of a sudden it started spitting a little bit, and the next thing you know it's a downpour!

It dumped with rain for about a half an hour and when I checked the rain gauge it read a half an inch. We've had rain about every three or four days.

Pouring rain. Again.

Normally I've got five or six water sprinklers going around the park at this time of year trying to keep things green. Last year, we had a fire ban on because we hadn't had any rain for over a month. Not this year! Things are green as can be!

Anyhow, gotta go...got things to do!

Fantastic deal on the Phillips Sonicare. This highly rated electric toothbrush has never been this cheap!

And in Canada, buy any 3 Coppertone Sunscreens and get $10 off...

    1. I am pretty sure most campgrounds in both Canada and the US are packed this weekend. Hopefully everyone everywhere has a great time, I know people here are enjoying themselves. :-)

  3. Wish you could send some of that rain to Montana. So terribly dry here already.

    1. I wish we could as well! Sounds like Montana is having a summer like the one we had last year.

    1. We must be! Today was nice though and has dried up a lot of the ground so things aren't quite so muddy. Last night was a good night, I think tonight might not be as quiet though. As long as they aren't loud and rowdy we will be happy.

  5. Big Sky Country indeed! Reminds me of Montana and the rolling wheat fields. One of my favorite images is of the golden fields with an angry sky as a backdrop. Very striking and beautiful!

    1. Yes, driving through Montana this spring reminded us of Saskatchewan as well. I love seeing the bright yellow fields and even more so when a storm is approaching but the sun is still shining on the yellow field, it really makes it pop out.
