Peace and quiet

Well, until our visitors showed up anyhow. Bunch of hooligans, keeping us up with their partying! Ha...just kidding.

Yesterday morning we took a canoe out. Nice to get a break for a change and we didn't see another boat out on the lake.

Nice change from the motorboats and seadoos that populate the lake on the weekends, zipping around and making noise. Sure, we know...people are having fun and waterskiing and pulling kids behind on various contraptions. Doesn't really bother us at all, but it sure is peaceful when they're gone!

Nice day for a canoe ride.

Zoomed in on a white pelican. I wonder how long these guys hang around until they fly south.

These snow geese were so far up that you could hardly see them. Zoomed in all the way with our Nikon P520 brings them a little closer.

We spent much of the day just going around the campsites and cleaning up from the weekend. Still can't get over how many campers get their fire pit confused with a trash can. I mean, they do look a little different. Trash cans have lids on them and there aren't normally any ashes in them. They are where you put your trash. Fire pits are for burning wood and paper and cardboard. Not diapers, egg shells or pop cans. Amazing how many people get those two items mixed up.

Friends Doug and Nancy showed up just before 6:00pm. They had driven from Edmonton, about six hours away, plus they had stopped in to say hi to other Mexico travelers Derek and Teresa who have been running a campground near Lloydminster for the summer. Doug's brother Dwayne and his wife Agnes had shown up earlier on and they were already set up.

Sitting out chatting with Dwayne and Agnes (left) and Doug and Nancy (right).

Doug and Nancy brought us a treat! They knew we've been boycotting the Canadian alcohol system, so they figured they would surprise me with a six pack of Mexico's Pacifico beer! Boy, that sure went down well beside the fire last night. Yes, I saved some for tonight though! Ruth enjoyed sharing a bottle of wine they brought as well. Sure is nice having friends who treat us so well! Thanks again guys!

    1. It sure was nice to have a few drinks, we can't deny the fact but it was even nicer to have friends stop by for a few days. We have had some good laughs and will be sad to see them go.
