Hitting the road!

As much as we love it here at Hacienda Contreras, it's time to go out and find some new adventures! We're heading out this morning with the little blue car on a two and a half month Mexican road trip.

The sky cleared up enough yesterday that we got Chris and Juan's solar panel wired and installed for them. But by happy hour, the rain clouds had moved back in and by evening it was a steady downpour that continued past bedtime. Woke up this morning, and the sky is pretty much clear, so the storm system appears to have moved on.

The black cloud over the mountain stayed there all day.

But in the other direction it was quite nice. It got really windy towards the end of the afternoon though, and then the rain clouds moved back in.

Whiskey's tree has been growing. It looks like it's going to bloom within the next week or so as well.

Anyhow, I'm going to change the oil in the little blue car and then gotta finish getting all packed up and give  Sherman a little cleanup before we leave. First stop, the city of Morelia, about 240 kms (149 miles) from here.

  2. Whiskey's tree is going to be so beautiful when it blooms. Are you not taking Sherman on this trip? I may have missed something along the way.

  3. ...But it's WARM rain. Not that bad as I recall.
So you're leaving poor Sherman behind? He'll get a complex.
Are you doing the tent thing, or will it be hotel/pension/couch surfing?

  5. Have fun on the road trip and keep the pictures coming. Maybe on your way north you can stop if we are not in Florida. You can still stop and camp , my son and his girlfriend will be home. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna...

  8. I am a new reader of your blog. My husband and I had planned to retire in Mazatlan but the economy collapse and increased violence of the drug war caused us to change our plans. We are now traveling the United States and Canada full-time in our motorhome (with no previous RVing experience)and would like to eventually travel into Mexico. You are an inspiration for us to expand our travel horizons.
