Who wants to come work with us?

A few weeks ago I wrote a blog post about workamping. Since that time, we've decided to try and find our own workamping couple (or single!) here at Cabri Regional Park for next season.

Workamping is typically when you receive a free full hook up RV camping site in exchange for helping out around the park for a minimal number of hours per week. But in this particular situation, we have a specific job in mind for whoever applies.

And we're pretty flexible about the agreement. We need someone to be here from June 23rd to August 8th of 2017...so a total of just over six weeks, which is the extent of our busy season here at the park. However, if you want to come earlier, and/or stay later than those dates, we're quite happy to accommodate you. You can even stay the whole season if you wish!

Your job responsibility will be to man the front entrance gate. You will only be working Friday evening 4 hours, Saturday 10 hours, and Sunday 6 hours...your commitment would be a total of 20 hours per week. Possibly less, if the weather doesn't co-operate. With a couple, you can split the shifts so that you're only working a couple of hours at a time if you wish.

Outside of those hours, you are free to do as you wish...boating, fishing, hiking, exploring...or just relaxing with a book.

Ruth, working at the front entrance.

Most times, the job is pretty easy. Some might even say boring, however you're quite welcome to read a book or play on your smartphone when things are quiet. At other times, it can get quite busy selling entry passes and checking that people already have them.

The financial compensation isn't great. A seasonal site here at the park went for $1,200 this year, although it may be more expensive next year. However, you can't buy one even if you wanted to. We have a waiting list with 30 names on it. So if you want to jump into a seasonal site right away, here is your opportunity! But it comes with a commitment to work part of the weekends during the busy season.

Hopefully we can find someone committed who wants to take on the responsibility.

You can email us at [email protected] if you want to further discuss the opportunity.

  1. I have to say, that looks like a pretty sweet deal. Just weekends? There's gotta be someone out there who'd think they'd be a good fit. Good luck finding that right couple or person.

    1. Some people like that! Plus there are more interesting places to explore than most people think that in this area. Also don't forget you have a the whole week to go exploring between the weekends.

    1. You could always come out for a visit though George. You were going to drive out west last year and that got cancelled so you should plan a trip west for next summer.
