Things are starting to wind down

It's hard to believe that things are starting to wind down already here at the park. I've got a simple little app on my phone called Dreamdays that counts down the number of days to important events. I don't look at it every day, but it's kind of fun to know that there are only 46 days (give or take a day or two either way) until we leave here.

Oh, and only 83 days until we fly to Romania...and 137 days until Christmas!

It's pretty quiet here now during the midweek. Only about 5 daily rental sites are occupied, and hardly any of our 80 seasonal campers are here. Their trailers are here...but no people! We've got a small family reunion booked for the next five days, but other than that it's going to be pretty quiet.

This is normal for this time of year though. A lot of our clients are local farmers, and it's nearing harvest time. I noticed on my drive to Regina on Monday that there were a coupe of combines in the fields already, and that will only increase with the weeks worth of sunshine we have in the forecast starting tomorrow.

The water level has risen a lot over the past two weeks.

It's actually higher now than it was last year at this time!

Pretty soon, they could use the marina for their boats. Unfortunately, it's too little, too late.

One of the best things that's been done since we've been here was the installation of this playground. The kids love it and it's well used.

If only we could get people to slow down. Actually, most people are very good. The odd one has to be told though.

The office and concession building.

Camp kitchen. Busy place on Sunday mornings for $5 pancake breakfast.

Some of Ruth's flowers.

And there's Sherman! He's happy to be home, and we're happy too!

Many RV'ers use the Instant Pot programmable pressure cooker for easy cooking in the RV. It's very popular! And today only, it's on Amazon's deal of the day...a great price if you're looking for one...

  1. Nice that things are slowing down fro you now.
Maybe need some Topes to slow the traffic down, we have seen that in a few campgrounds.

    1. Yes, but they would have to be big ones to do the job! Everybody around here drives big 4x4 pickup trucks!

  2. We're starting to countdown too. About 8 weeks left for us. We had the problem with people speeding in the park too. We finally had to place some speed bumps in the park because telling them just wasn't working.

    1. Not trying to wish the summer along but it sure is exciting thing about our winter plans isn't it? :-)

Yes, we are thinking that speed bumps are the only thing that might help, seeing that we have signs throughout the park and that doesn't seem to deter some of our visitors.

  3. We have speed bumps here and now 2 electronic signs that show in bright red LED lights the speed you are driving.....sadly there will always be those that speed.

    1. We have also thought about those electronic boards but as you say there will always be some that will speed through the park. :-(

  4. Nice to have a bit of break in the traffic flow. It seems that water levels are always too high or too low.

    1. Yes, it is! Now we can recharge our batteries and then start getting things ready for the fall/winter.

Our first year at the park the water level was perfect. With any luck we will have a good year water wise next year.

    1. It is pretty peaceful after the busy season is done with but while it is busy it is anything but peaceful, just lots of people having fun.

Yes, our feet are getting pretty itchy and what to get back out there traveling.

  6. It's hard to believe the season is coming to an end. I am leaving Montana in less than two weeks now for the winter months.

    1. I know, it's still August, yet it seems like everyone is getting ready for fall.

Yes, but Montana can start getting cold early, especially if you are up at higher elevations.

  7. Do you know what country you will be in for Christmas? Since you are counting down and all?
