Visiting with some new full time RV'ers

Saturday afternoon, we went and visited with Judi and Ian, a couple we had met with a year and a half ago when they were contemplating selling their house and buying a motorhome to live in.

Now, they have done exactly that.

And they (jokingly) blame us for giving them the idea!

They were out of their house about a week ago and now staying at the old Ottawa Municipal Campground for a few days. We stopped in to see how they're doing.

Judi, Ian, Ruth, and Kevin.

So, they're doing pretty well, but they're tired and just trying to get settled into the RV. We think they've still got too much stuff, but we were the same when we set out. We brought a lot of things with us we ended up not needing and I'm sure they'll whittle things down a bit as time goes on.

And the 37' motorhome is too big as well, but they realize that. They're still both working and they're going to do it while traveling Canada in the summer. When they eventually retire, the plan is to buy something smaller.

We'll check in with them again in September and see how they're doing.

We went to a house party in the evening with my group of guy friends and some of their wives. Good times, with lots of laughs.

Great group of people to have as long time friends!

Gorgeous spring day today in Canada's capital city. High of 20C (68F) with blue sky and sunshine!

  1. Full timing is an on-going adventure, they will figure things out as they go along.
Great photo of your friends! (and you guys of course)

    1. Yep, you have that right, full timing is definitely and ongoing thing and we have no doubt that after a year they will figure out what they need and use and what they don't and will more than likely pare that down over the coming year.

  2. Even after Three years we are still whittling things down. Probably get that done just before we downsize again.
    Great group of friends.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. I think that when you live in an RV full time the whittling down, never stops! :-)

  3. I finally saw the ads today. I had two, one at the top and one at the bottom. They were very unobtrusive and one was a site I've been looking at a little lately, so hopefully you'll get some click throughs. Just wanted to give a little feedback.

    1. You are lucky to only see two, I think I see at least five of them but a couple of them are off on the sidebar so I don't really notice them.

Thank you for the feedback and also for not minding them being there. :-)

  4. Thanks for coming to visit (even if we did have to sneak you in). I'm sure we wouldn't have put this plan in place if it hadn't been for you so thank you! BTW I'm sitting here looking at a bag ready to go to the thrift shop, lol! Glad you had a great time with your friends. Cheers!

    1. Thank you for hosting us for a couple of hours Saturday afternoon. It was wonderful to see you both again and Abbey as well and we are glad that you have finally hit the road after 1 1/2 years of making the dream come true. Good Luck and enjoy the east coast this summer and we hope to see you again in the fall. :-)
