Pics around the park

Pretty quiet weekend here at Cabri Park, despite the fact that it wasn't bad weather-wise. But, we were told that there were quite a few events taking place in the area, so perhaps people were just busy with other things.

Reservations are on the upswing though. Not many sites left for August long weekend, but of course we will be pretty much sold out for that period, as happens every year.

But there are still quite a few sites available for July long weekend. Strange. Maybe people are waiting to see what the weather will be like.

On the bright side, the weather has been great, and there aren't nearly as any mosquitoes as there were last year. In fact, I have only had to put bug spray on once so far this year and that was when I was working on the wiring for the a/c unit in the brush beside our house trailer. To put it in perspective, we couldn't even go outside at this time last year without putting bug spray on!

Ruth's peonies are doing well.

And the lilacs are in bloom.

I found a little bird nest and peered inside...

This mom is going to be busy!

I'll have to keep my eye in it every couple of days to see when they hatch!

And up in our workshop building, a pair of barn swallows have made a home. We lock the shop up every evening, so I have to check and make sure the mom is inside before I can lock it up because there are eggs in the nest there too!!

Mommy barn swallow. Amazing how they build these nests. She has become really used to me and I can get quite close without her being afraid.

Our new boat dock has been delivered, so I'll be putting that together today with help from our new workcamper Barry. He and his workcamper wife Jeannie arrived last week and they'll be looking after our front entrance gate here at the park when things get busier later this month.

Great deal this morning on the Coleman camping combination grill and stove...

And in Canada, it's Kitchen Day!

  1. Nice pictures in the campground. Temp in Ottawa is 31 yesterday and today feeling like 36.

    1. It is June, so I would much prefer 36°C to the 27°F we're expecting here in Arizona tonight

    2. Thank you! The park is really starting to look good now. The problem with the high temperatures in Ottawa is that you get so much humidity, not like out here.

Yikes Doug, those temperatures sound like Arizona winter nighttime temperatures!

  2. We really like your header picture :) We are finding bird eggs all over our driveway. Not sure if there are so many or the nests are getting attacked.

    1. Thought you might like that header picture, Chris! It really was a beautiful walk along there.

As for the eggs, it could be that they are just hatching and the shells then get tossed out of the nest. At least that is what I hope is happening!

    1. I believe you are correct on that Paul and Marti. We are pretty sure it is going to be a great summer at the park this year.

  4. Enjoy the nice weather while it is there, and less bugs is wonderful.

    1. So much for the nice weather, it is raining this morning and looks like it will be that way for the next few days. :-( The ground did need the rain though!

  5. Nice pics. It's interesting that your lilacs and peonies are blooming at the same time. I am in Minnesota and have (possibly) the same variety of peonies- they were in full bloom last week before they got decimated by a couple storms. Yet it feels like it's been a month since the lilacs bloomed.

    1. Thanks Sarah. Not sure why our lilacs and peonies come out at the same time but it might have something do to the weather here but they are definitely out at the same time. Our lilacs always seem late here at the park and they aren't abundant.

    1. It will be fun keeping an eye on it and watching the eggs hatch and the babies grow.

    1. Thanks Emily. The peonies were here before we ever started working here, apparently they are heritage peonies.
