Busy day planning for upcoming travel!

We spent a lot of time on the internet yesterday. Let me tell you about some of the things we have planned for our upcoming travels.

A lot of our planning time is spent online dealing with tourist boards in the cities and countries that we are going to be visiting. And various companies like to work with us too. It benefits them, and it benefits us. But it's a lot of work!

You'll remember last winter that Tilley Endurables sponsored our Africa trip by supplying us with hats, socks, and underwear. This year for our Korea trip, they're going a big step further and outfitting us each with two pairs of pants, two tops, and a jacket! We can't wait to tell you all about this top quality clothing. A lot of it is guaranteed for life never to wear out. As I was looking at this stuff I was thinking that I'll never have to buy clothing again!

We spent two or three hours online trying to figure out what to order. And measuring each other to make sure we order the sizes correctly. The stuff has to arrive here before September 30th, so we had to get right on it.

Just to give you an idea, here's the jacket Ruth ordered...

And, I've been dealing with the Toronto branch of the Korean Tourism Board. They're interested in sponsoring some of our activities while we're there, and one of the things we'll be telling you about is their "TempleStay" program where you actually sleep and eat and do things with the the Buddhist monks who live there. It's quite an interesting choice to have to make because each temple has different activities...

And it's still two months away, but we're working with Seattle Tourism as well. There won't be time to do much planning while we're actually in Korea, so it made sense to get it all done now. We've never been to Seattle or San Francisco and we've only got four days in each city so it's going to be go, go, go while we're there!

And, four weeks from today, we'll be going to a Korean wedding! We're really excited about this event and feel very honored to have been invited.

So, all kinds of neat stuff coming up!

  1. We are going to take this tour on a Seattle visit soon (lucky for us it's only a 2 hour drive from our home to get there) https://www.undergroundtour.com/about/history.html If you like history of a place, this is a great way to start....

  3. A temple stay sounds completely neat. You are going to have such a great time. Do you guys have any idea what you are wearing to the wedding? Looks like you have everything else covered.

    1. We are thinking the same thing about the "Temple Stay". What a way to experience the culture and understand it so much better.

The dress is semi formal so Kevin is hoping that the new pair of pants that his is getting from Tilley will be suitable. then he will need to find a dress shirt, tie and hopefully a blazer. For me I am hoping to find a dress before leaving that will be lightweight for travelling, if not we have the day of the wedding to look around a local market and see if we can find something appropriate there. I am sure we will find what we need before leaving though.

    1. I hope you had a great visit there. We thought it was a pretty city and wished we had more time to spend there. A full day and a half was not enough time!!!

    1. Thank you Janis! We always try to make our posts helpful to people who wish to visit this area, or entice people to travel there but we also want it to be interesting to read for the ones who just want to be an armchair traveller.

  7. The Seattle Museum of Flight at Boeing Field. Well worth it. We started at 10am opening and left at closing 5pm. Did not know where the time went and did not see all of it.

    1. Thank you Irene and Simon, that was one of the places we were thinking of visiting. My brother had worked for Boeing and has actually been to their plant there which is another option that we were thinking about. Their plant is huge and apparently they offer tours.

  8. Wow! Lucky you! I am envious about the clothing; I am sure it will be high quality! And the temple visits sound cool too. You both totally deserve this.

    1. We have been very impressed and happy with our hats so far so we are expecting much the same from their clothing. We are pretty excited ourselves and when they get here we will do a fashion shot for everyone.

Definitely looking forward to the Temple Stay. what a great way to experience the culture and get a better understanding of the country and it's people.
