Namibia trip update!

Okay, so we think we've got things worked out with our tour operator in Namibia.

As you know, our prize had included a one week ground tour taking in the major sites. They were putting us up in some pretty fancy places and with some nice meals included. But we really wanted to do some camping and RV'ing in Africa! So we asked if they would switch things up for us and they agreed!

So here's what we've got worked out...

Upon our arrival in Windhoek (the capital city of Namibia) they will meet us at the airport and take us to the Rivendell Guesthouse for our first night.

The next day, they will deliver our motorhome to us for a 3 week camping trip around Namibia!

It's a new model so there aren't many pictures of it available on the internet. You can rest assured that we will be showing you all that this little camper has to offer when we pick him up.

They're booking us at nine different campsites where we'll stay in each one for between one and three nights. Some of the campgrounds are pretty fancy where each site has it's own private bathroom!

For example, one of the places we will be camping is the Alte Brucke Resort.

Our secure camping facility is top class, each stand has its own private bathroom, fire place, wash up, power point and lawned area. Wireless internet is accessible from any position on the premises.

Would you have thought that there are places like this to camp in the wilds of Namibia??

Our three week motorhome trip will cover 3,000 kms (1,800 miles).

After that 3 weeks is up? Well, we're still working on the details, but given that we're going to be spending a total of four months in southern Africa, you can be sure there's going to be some exciting stuff going on!!

    1. We are sure happy that they could change their plans for us. By winning the contest they got an added bonus that we are travel bloggers and are looking forward to letting our readers and fellow travelers know what their beautiful country is like in an RV.

  6. Namibia having a place like that is amazing. I haven't found a place in the US like that...at least not one we can afford.

    1. After this trip and our blog posts maybe some of the North American RV parks will pick up on this new style of "camping"!

  7. Be sure to visit the village of Luderitz (West of your "H" location). Drive through the diamand area and enter a cozy little German village right out of 1940's. I am also glad that you'll get to see the other great "Grand Canyon" = Fish River Canyon (locator "I")

    1. Thank you very much for your input, we will definitely try to fit these into our plans. Looking forward to Fish River Canyon, too bad the Fish Canyon Trail is closed at that time of year, we would love to have done it. Prehaps we will be able to do part of it.

    1. I don't think it is as popular as in Canada or the USA, I think that camping in a tent or a VW Kombi is very popular though.

    1. We are hoping that he will be able to stand upright in it. He has bumped his head enough that he doesn't need to add to it.
