The missing package...

We had ordered two packages from Amazon. The orders were placed at exactly the same time, and with exactly the same delivery instructions. But, one was fulfilled directly through Amazon, and the other was coming from an independent supplier.

One package arrived on time. The other one hasn't arrived at all.

The package that did arrive was my front sway bar bushings for the motorhome. I got the notification last Monday that it had been delivered. I also got a separate notification that my Dinosaur Universal Electronics Board had been delivered the same day.

However, when we went to pick them up last Tuesday, only the sway bar bushings package was there.

When you have something delivered to the Imperial Dam LTVA, it goes to the Christian Service Center, a volunteer operation that hosts the delivery address and allows long term RV'ers to get mail and package delivery.

The tracking number states that it was delivered. But there's no package.

So now they've been tracing it. And searching the bins, and making sure it wasn't inadvertently picked up by someone else. We should find out more this morning, and then we'll figure out what to do. We're about ready to leave this area, so hopefully the package will make an appearance today. If not, we'll have to see what our recourse is when something like this happens through Amazon. I can't see it being their fault...more than likely a problem with USPS! I guess we'll see...

This electronics board is a universal replacement for the ones that operate an RV's fridge, furnace, or hot water heater. We've already had to replace the original board in the fridge, and the one in the hot water heater had gone bad as well. Besides which, it's a handy item to carry as a spare for when your original board goes bad in any of those three appliances. Just make sure you order the proper model, there are several available.

Dinosaur Electronics (UIB S) Small Universal Ignitor Board

We went for a walk yesterday morning on a trail built by the local RV'ers, and mostly by our friend Doug who uses the trail for mountain biking. We hiked it...our bikes are better for the road.

Ruth, on the trail.

It was a lot of work moving rocks to make this trail!

Kevin, with the "brain", a local landmark, in the background.

Ruth, in a sea of lava rocks.

And yesterday morning, our neighbors Ron and Cindy pulled out, so now we've got the place to ourselves again! Too funny. Happy trails guys!

    1. We received the one package the day that we arrived at the Imperial Dam LTVA, and we now find out the the other was there as well but it was under Kevin's name instead of our friend Doug's name, so we now have both of our packages. :-)

  3. UPS often delivers to a local post office claiming no one was available to accept a package.

  5. Hm. Kinda sucks about the missing package. Hopefully there was nobody who wanted the "five finger discount". I've had good luck so far, except for that broken item a few weeks ago. Got my money back, so it's all good.

    1. Nope, no "five finger discount", it was just a problem with the name on the delivery address that ended up being the problem. All's well that ends well. :-)

  6. Loved this tale as mail can have such an impact! I did a post on our Greek house having no name nor address and told readers how to try and mail us. When it worked and I got the first note, I was ecstatic! I hear we can order through Amazon much the same way, but I am not yet quite ready to try that!

    1. It is very similar to that in rural Mexico too! Our Mexican friends address is something like the green house at the corner of such and such. We have proven that it works though because we sent a postcard to their daughter and son and they received it OK. Took a long time to get there though. lol!

  8. I have had more trouble with USPS taking forever to deliver things and messing it up somehow. Only Fed-Ex seems to be able to handle getting things to us in a timely and efficient manner. Hope you locate the package. I'll be interested to hear what recourse you have if you don't. Those rocks are amazing. Ruth looks lost among them.

    1. We got the package just fine Sherry so we don't have to worry about our recourse. :-)
