These boots are made for walking.

And that's just what they'll do. Well, our boots have done quite a bit of walking and I need some new ones!

Because we do a lot of walking and hiking, we've had a few comments about how often we must go through a pair of shoes. Well, if you buy good quality ones, they should last a long time, right? I think we did pretty good with our last pair.

We had bought our boots at the same time. Just before our Wild Cave Tour at the end of October, 2010.

Ruth's boots actually gave out first, and we replaced them when we were in Oklahoma City last fall. So she got just over two years out of her boots. Mine are only just giving out now, and I'll get a new pair on our way back north next month. So I got about two and a half years out of mine.

Considering the number of miles on these boots, the uppers are holding up really well. I wore them every single day for four months while we were overseas last summer!

But the tread is getting a little low! And I don't think they would be very waterproof anymore.

These boots were made by Merrell. I think they cost about $200, and I think it was money well spent. Ruth's were also Merrell, but slightly cheaper. We paid about $130 to replace hers with the same exact same boot last October.

We've had a couple of overcast days lately and we actually had some rain showers yesterday. Last night was chilly, it was only 8C (47F) inside the motorhome when we got up, so we expected it to be clear out and sure enough there is a little bit of blue sky this morning. Should be a nice day.

We had a BBQ pot luck supper the other night here at Hacienda Contreras...

Today is market day! We're off to town to by our weekly groceries and take out carnitas for lunch. We love Saturdays here!

    1. They have a steady year here at Hacienda with RVer's. We are happy to see that as Barb and Sal work hard at making sure the place looks great and that the campers are happy and comfortable, just as if they were at home.

  3. Don't think those things would pass a safety. The tread is too low. I wouldn't even bother with the penny test.

    1. Yep, those boots have been to many places and had some incredible hikes. We also wondered how many miles they have on them.

    1. We don't turn the heat on at night so it is always a little cooler inside that it would normally be but by 9:30am we are having to open the windows and the door as it starts to get too warm inside.
