Back at the ranch

We puttered around yesterday morning, and just had some coffee and tea and enjoyed the great views of Puerto Vallarta from the apartment. It was probably about 11:00am by the time we went for breakfast.

We didn't need any lunch, that's for sure!

Don't know why, but we forgot to take pics of breakfast. So you'll have to make do with another photo of the view from the roof of the apartment!

Beautiful day in Puerto Vallarta.

We were going to take the local bus to the Walmart where we had to get the connecting bus to Valle de Banderas, but Tracy had her car out already and said she would drive us to the Walmart. Thanks Tracy!

We wandered around the Walmart for a bit. It's probably the biggest one in Mexico! A huge store, and it seemed much better stocked than a lot of the Mexican Walmarts we've been in. Must be due to the huge expat and tourist population here.

We only had to wait about twenty minutes for our bus. It was pretty full and we were the only gringos on it, but we managed to get seats together. Ruth had been talking to a young couple with a six month old baby who was sitting across from us, and when the turn off the main highway came up, he asked to make sure that we were on the right bus! Not many tourists come out into the countryside, especially by local bus!

The bus ride was about an hour long, and cost 16 pesos ($1.40) each!

We arrived in Valle de Banderas. It had been baking hot on the bus, and we bought an ice cream to eat during our 20 minute walk back to Sherman.

What a great time we had with Tracy and her mom Joy. Couldn't have been better! Looking forward to seeing them again in October, because obviously we have to return to this area then to pick up Sherman at some point.

Today, we'll spend some time cleaning up Sherman and generally getting things ready for our departure tomorrow. I see they're calling for a record low for tonight in Ottawa...-8C (17F)! Yikes! Good thing it's only supposed to last one night before getting back to normal.

  4. I hope by the middle of May the weather improves. We are set for some cold nights, electric blanket, Mr. Heater, and warm clothes just in case. See you soon.
