A day off?

What's that?

It's not a very good weather forecast for this weekend, so we were surprised to have a few campers show up yesterday. I think we've got 9 sites occupied.

Celsius.

Fahrenheit.

And so right now (6:30am), it's drizzling rain outside. We haven't had ANY days yet where it's been rainy all day. It has rained for an hour or two and then the sun comes back out. But today looks like it's going to be dreary and overcast all day. So this is the time for a day off!

You know, the problem with having a day off around here is finding something to do with it. Ruth will probably do some baking. We''ll still have to do trash detail and wood delivery, but that won't take much time. I'll probably go out into the shed and putter around. So, not truly a day off, but it will be a coasting kind of a day!

I came across this fun mapping application called My Guestmap.

    Our guestmap

If you click on the link above, it will open a map in another window. You can then use the tools on the left of the map to zoom in on your location. Then click the map at your location and a little box will pop up where you can leave us your name and a short message. No logging in, no registering, or anything. Then choose and attach one of the funny little cartoonish heads to your message, save it, and close the window.

We've started it off so you'll see our little character in the middle of Saskatchewan, so let's see where people are visiting from today! Take a minute out of your busy day and put your name and a message on the map!

And after that, go to your facebook account and vote for us. Just because it's a weekend, there's no slacking off. There's only a week to go, and we're holding fairly strong in 5th place. We only need a top five finish, so we're doing fine but we need you to vote every single day!

Here's how to do it...click the link. It will bring you to a facebook page. Accept the application. Accept the fact that they get access to your friend list, etc. Standard facebook procedure to limit illegal voting. Then, find the picture titled "Drab Landscape". There are five yellow stars beside the picture. Click on the star to the far RIGHT to award us with five points...daily for the next 7 days!

If your points don't register, please try again in a couple of hours. You're allowed one vote every 24 hours...thanks everyone!

  1. Lots of zooming in on that map. Just too bad I can't put on a marker from Vienna. Then you'd have someone from across the way, but that may still happen.
The fun stuff that can be found on the internet! (amidst all the cr*p)
    Enjoy your "day off".

*thinks* I never seem to get one of those either.

    1. Yep, you have to zoom in quite a bit, a few people are just a "little" off from where they really are!

We did enjoy our day off and our muscles thanked us.

  2. Do you ever get a day totally off where you don't have to do even one thing? I'll go try the map now and vote. Cute idea the map. When I just brought up this post, I didn't see any markers but yours.

    1. hmmm I just tried the link and it said I didn't have access to view the page. Told me to log out and change accounts. I don't have another account. Oh well. Guess that's why there are no other little icons on the map. Fun idea though.

    2. Works fine Sherry, so no idea what's causing your problem. There are now 23 markers on the map!

    3. Yes, I can have an actual day off but Kevin can't. He will always have the garbage, wood and fish guts to do but that is pretty easy really.

    1. Made it to second place now but we think it will be tough to hold on to it especially with this being the last week. We will probably see some major gains on some of the other contestants but if they look too sketchy we will definitely be reporting it to the contest organizers which we have done already on a few of the entries. Not everyone plays fair unfortunately!

  6. My favorite is Dee's head---floating in the Southern Ocean :)

There was some kind of blogger/google login issue saying I don't have access to the GuestMap page. Got it this morning and again just now. Logged out and logged back in to write this comment, and it worked.

    1. Yep, there were a few people not quite understanding that you need to zoom in on the map to place your maker. No issue though, it is just fun to see all the markers appearing on the map.

      Glad it work for you.
