Took Igor to the mechanic this morning

We got up early this morning because we had to take Igor to the mechanic shop at 8:00am.

Now, this is Mexico and so things don't always happen the way you think they should. So we wouldn't have been the least bit surprised to arrive at 8:00am and find nobody there.

Fortunately, the mechanic shop is only a fifteen minute walk away. And maybe a five minute drive. We got there at maybe 7:55am, and sure enough there was nobody around. But right at 8:00am, people began arriving, and the doors opened up!

Ruth was greeted by the extremely friendly garage cat!

I wanted to double check the price with the mechanics. When we were there on Monday, I had explained what I wanted and the guy had said 960 pesos ($73 CAD, $52 USD). which even by Mexican standards is extremely cheap to change all four shocks. Yes, the rear shocks are fairly easy to do, but the front ones are more difficult. Anyhow, he looked at it again and came back with 1,500 to 1,600 pesos ($117 CAD, $84 USD) which is still cheap. I had honestly thought it would be closer to 2,000.

He's also going to check the brakes. They had been fine when we parked him up six months ago, but driving him over this morning they feel a bit spongy. Maybe they just need bleeding, but he's going to double check for leaks.

Back at home, there is some activity going on at the marina.

They've brought in a backhoe to clear out some of the water hyacinthe.

Oh, and we heard back from the carpenter guys. They turned out to be far too expensive compared to what we were hoping to spend, so we've gone to plan B. We found some decent looking furniture online that has Mexican distribution warehouses, and so we'll probably go that route. But there is also another local furniture guy here in El Arco that we want to check out first.

And, the Blue Jays came up with a much needed win last night, tying the series 2-2. Wow. What great baseball! It's now a best 2 out of 3 series, with game 5 tonight before they head back to Toronto for games 6 and possibly 7.
