Splashifax Water Park

We always give experience gifts to the grandkids for their birthdays, and granddaughter Sadie has her 12th birthday coming up this Friday. Unfortunately, we have to fly to Ottawa on Thursday so we took Sadie and her friend Violet to her birthday outing yesterday.

She chose to go to Splashifax Water Park.

This is a different type of waterpark where the activities take place on inflated obstacles and attractions that are floating on the lake.

There is also a farm located here.

Beautiful horse.

Ruth, Sadie, and Violet.

I did not go in the water! First of all, the air temperature was only about 20C (68F). Certainly not warm enough for swimming. And when I heard Ruth squeal as she got in the water the first time, that sealed the deal for me. Quite happy to watch from shore!

Ruth, contemplating a jump from this height.

There she goes!

They had an hour and forty minutes for a cost of $142.50 CAD ($103 USD) total for the four of us. The pricing is a bit goofy because we went to the earliest booking  that started at 10am, where the 4th person is supposed to be free, but I wasn't going in the water anyhow. And that also included a $5 charge for each person for special socks that you need to wear. Anyhow, we've learned that this type of entertainment in Canada is pricey, and if you want to do it that's just what it costs.

And then we took them to The Real Scoop Ice cream in Wolfville for gluten and dairy free ice cream.
$27.19 CAD ($19.60 USD) for three cones.

Sadie enjoyed the day out with Grandma and Grandpa and her friend Violet, and that's all that matters.

In the evening, Lindsey to us for a drive to a private garden that she had read about. It's actually a bit odd because it's located at someone's private home. And so you just enter the private driveway and park in front of the house. And it's a very nice home. And then you just wander the property. There are signs directing you, and even a map of the property that you can enjoy. Again, it's all a bit strange...

The flag garden.

Funny birdhouse.

They must have shipped this from Thailand!

Cameron on the patio with a view!

Sadie, Lindsey, and Cameron enjoying the view.

It's a beautiful home.

After that, we went to Baxter's Harbour to see the sunset...

The tide is all  the way out.

At high tide, much of these rocks are covered.

End of another day.

And in Canada...

  1. We have similar inflated parks near Winnipeg, Hoopla Island and they are very reasonable! It's about $17 for an hour! I've done it with my kids and it's EXHAUSTING!! You warm up quickly!

    1. Yes, that one looks very similar but I think it has a few less stations and not quite as high for jumps or slides as the one in Nova Scotia. Definitely very tiring and yes, you do warm up quickly! I (Ruth) had lots of fun with the two girls and I was absolutely the oldest person out there!

  2. A park ranger at Acadia National Park in Maine told us the prevailing winds carry a lot of smog through the area. I'm wondering if all that smog is what was carried in by the winds. Happy birthday to Sadie.

    1. We think that smog is actually smoke from the forest fire that sorta close to Lindsey's place in the valley.
