Big forest fire

There's a massive forest fire burning about 75 kms (47 miles) west of here. Nova Scotia doesn't normally have a problem with forest fires, but this summer has been particularly dry. They've even had some evacuations called.

Yesterday, there was a big cloud of smoke coming through the Annapolis Valley...

Not the best photo, but you get the idea.

Supposed to get some rain today, but we'll see. They were originally calling for 17 mms, but now they've reduced it to 12 mms. Hopefully there will be enough to make a difference.

Had some of Justin's family over yesterday afternoon to celebrate granddaughter Sadie's upcoming 12th birthday.

Sadie, with two of her cousins.

Grandson Cameron (14) with two more cousins.

Hard to believe we've been here six days already!

  1. Lovely photos. Yes, I can totally relate to forest fires! We get them every summer here in Quebec (I live in Montreal). Very sad, and it really affects the quality of air, not to mention adds to the already hot and humid temperatures. Stay safe. Warm greetings from a retired lady.

    1. Thank you, we ae glad that you enjoyed the photos..

Forest fires are not nice in so many ways and yes Quebec gets their fair share of the but I think that British Columbia is the worst province for getting wild fires. It is pretty rare for Nova Scotia to get them though. Hopefully they will get some much needed rain to put this one out. Friends of Lindsey and family have already had to evatuate their house on Sunday night.
