Look what I found!

Yesterday, we did the drive down from the mountains into the city of Oaxaca.

We went from 2,900 meters (9,600') altitude down to 1,550 meters (5,100'). And so it's certainly warmer down here in Oaxaca City, but not as hot as it was in Veracruz!

Highs here in Oaxaca of 31C (88F) and overnight lows of 15C (60F). Not bad.

Heading downhill. Not many cars on the road.

Looking back at the road we had been on.

Beautiful blue sky.

A village in the distance.

We stopped to enjoy the view.

This area had a forest fire not too long ago.

We laughed at the name of this little restaurant because we watch the children's show Peppa Pig in Spanish. A lot of the language used is very basic so it's easy to catch on to new words.

We arrived at the El Rancho RV Park located near El Tule on the outskirts of Oaxaca City. We've never been to this park, but we know that it gets rave reviews and is well regarded as one of the best RV parks in Mexico. Got ourselves set up for a two night stay at 350 pesos ($27.30 CAD, $20 USD) a night.

We have a nice shady spot to sit in behind Igor.

I'll show you some more photos of this nice RV park tomorrow.

The owner recommended a restaurant for lunch where we could have the Oaxaca specialty tluyudas.

This is the place... Restaurant Reynita.

We shared a chicken mole tluyuda. It was delicious!
Including a beer, a lemonade, and the tip it was 250 pesos ($19.50 CAD, $14.40 USD).

The ladies in the kitchen.

From there, we walked the short distance to the Tule Tree. We've been here several times before. It's a really pretty central plaza, with a massive tree.

You can tell the size of the tree compared to the church.

Ussie in El Tule.

It's a pretty central plaza.

The base of the tree is much larger than it looks in this photo.
Can you see the people sitting on the bench on the right side?

Today we will get Igor cleaned up and ready for storage. And we need to go into town and buy a duffle bag of some kind because we only have our two small backpacks and there are a lot of things we need to bring back to the house with us.

We drop off Igor at the storage place Saturday afternoon, and then we have a hotel room booked Saturday night that is located a five minute walk from the bus station. Then our bus leaves at 8:00am Sunday morning for the 7 hour bus ride to Mexico City.

Oh, I almost forgot... look what I found...

In the parking lot where we had been up in the mountains.
For those of you who don't know, American $2 bills are relatively uncommon. Even more uncommon to find one in the mountains of Oaxaca!

Nice deal on the popular Levoit Cordless Stick Vac.

And in Canada...
