Ruth and I met on March 5, 1983 and within two months we had decided to get married. But we didn't tell anyone yet because they would have thought we were nuts!
I think it might have been July when we told our parents and friends. The wedding was scheduled for May 12, 1984.

The invitations have been sent out!
And then the big day arrived. May 12, 1984.

And then it was off on our honeymoon. We took two weeks and drove down to Florida in our 1971 Buick Skylark to go to Disneyworld!

We made it!
I remember that we had dual exhaust installed on that car while we were in the states on that trip because it was cheaper than having it done in Canada! Yes, even back then we were watching our pennies! I remember on the way down, we stopped at an Atlantic City casino, and Ruth limited us to 50 cents in the slot machines!
We stopped and did some exploring in Virginia on the way back.
Anyway, enough reminiscing! Here we are, 42 years later and about to go on a trip around the world to celebrate!

ReplyDeleteWe are glad that you enjoyed our old pictures. I think that we were certainly a good looking couple when we got married and I think we both looked so young but then I guess we were!
DeleteAround the world, where are you off to?
ReplyDeleteOn Sunday we start our trip and we will be flying from Mexico City to Madrid, Spain for one night. The next day we fly from Madrid, Spain to Istanbul, Tūrkiye where we connect with a flight to Almaty, Kazakhstan and then a bus to Bishkek, Krygyzstan. We have a month in Krygyzstan. From there we fly to China where we will spend 3 weeks then onto Japan for 1 week. Then we fly from Tokyo, Japan to Vancouver, Canada where we spend one night and then from there back to Mexico City. Our very first around the world trip!

DeleteDh and I met 10/16/1992. He proposed 10/22/1994. We married in Las Vegas on 11/30/92. Still together after 33 years.

It's about time.
