We found a great spot

Tuesday morning, we went for a short hike up a hill across from where we had been parked on Monday night.

It had been a great sleep... the temperature went down to about 12C (54F), so it was nice and comfy at 9,600' altitude.

It was pretty clear in the morning as well, so some nice views.

Beautiful views.

Luna the dog came with us on our walk.

Cow and her calf at the side of the road.

We drove about 25 kms (15 miles) to a working ranch where they have some cabins for rent. People have also overnighted in their RV here, and it looked like a great spot.

It turned out to be perfect for us! For 200 pesos ($15.65 CAD, $11.50 USD), it's just boondocking, but we feel like we're pretty much on our own.

Notice the cows and horses in the background. Some of them are also on our side of the fence. You can see our Starlink antenna on the ground to the right of Igor. Normally I put it up on the roof, but since there is so much open space, I just set it there. Anyhow, a calf wandered by and I was outside puttering around and I mentioned to Ruth, "hey, look at the cute little calf". And as I turned back around, he was picking up the cable to the Starlink and had it in his mouth! Why he was attracted to the cable, who knows. After I scared him away, I taped up the cable where he had damaged it and put it on the roof. Lesson learned!

The view out our side door.

Even though we are at the same altitude as the place we were at the night before, it's much cooler here. I don't really understand why, but maybe something to do with the amount of fog and clouds the other area gets compared to here. Anyhow, the high here is only 19C (66F) and the overnight low was supposed to be a bone chilling 5C (41F).

But when we woke up this morning, we could feel that it was pretty chilly. Nice and toasty under the covers though! The temperature inside Igor was 5C (41F), but it was obviously colder than that outside.  The ground was covered in frost!

There is still frost on the ground in Igor's shadow!

But the sunshine and blue skies warmed things up quickly.

We really like it here and so we're going to stay another night.

Oh, and good news... we're going to have another granddog! Daughter Lindsey and family are adopting Ralph... an 8 week old border collie.

Welcome to the family Ralph!

Ralph is the third from the left with the spotted nose.
