What's on the agenda for January?

Once again, Sunday is market day here in Valle de Bravo so we were headed into town again to do our weekly fruits and veggies shopping. But we left a little early in order to hike up to La Peña again, this time with my sister Alison.

We went from there to the market and took Alison to our favorite Sunday taco place for lunch. Then picked up our groceries and headed back home.

I was telling our host Chago that we are heading to the state of Jalisco after Christmas, and he asked if I would buy a hat for him that is common in that state. He brought me into his house to show me his hat collection. He loves his sombreros!

Alison heads back to Mexico City this afternoon, then her flight to Calgary is late this evening. The temperature in Calgary right now is -23C (-9F)!

We had been planning to drive to Jalisco in time for Christmas, but our friends Sue and Roy had some health issues to look after and now don't plan on being there until February. So we're in no rush and probably won't leave here until next Monday the 29th. We're going to spend some time at two of our other favorite places, Valle de Juarez, and then Etzatlan. And hopefully find some new things to see along the way.

Then on the way back, we're going to do something interesting. We own shares in a Canadian mining company that has two operations here in Mexico and we've been invited to visit one of the mine sites. It's only about 200 kms (120 miles) south of here as the crow flies, but it's a long drive that's more convenient to do from the other direction so we'll do it as part of our return trip. Should be interesting!

Then back here in time to meet daughter Lindsey and family in Mexico City on January 28th.
