The wind didn't co-operate.... again!

So we tried to go paragliding on Wednesday and the wind didn't co-operate. Then yesterday, we tried to go so sailing. And we actually did go sailing... but eventually the wind didn't co-operate again!

We ended up on the water for about four hours!

First though, we had been invited over to Fernando and Jessie's (Jessie is our Spanish teacher) house for lunch. She's a wonderful cook and made us vegetarian flautas. They were delicious. I normally like a little meat in my food, but these were really good!

Then back to the marina around 2:30pm for our sailing expedition.

When we started out, our host and captain Chago had said that it's not windy enough, and he installed a small gas motor on the back of the boat.... just in case. Chago has a lot of experience on the lake, and is a very good marinero (sailer).

Getting ready to get on the boat.

Scenery along the way.

There are quite a few marinas on the lake.

We took our friends Fernando, Jessie, and Aminah along with my sister Alison.
And our captain Chago.

This is a big hotel complex on the lake.

Looking over at La Peña.

Ussie on the boat!

Fernando and Alison.

Chago, putting up the second sail.

Up until this point, we had been running the little gasoline motor. It's very quiet, and was helping us move along because we were doing the entire perimeter of the lake. But the wind did pick up a little bit at this point and we did sail for a while without the motor.

We went all the way up to the dam.

We headed over to watch the paragliders for a while.

This will be us in a couple of hours!
The conditions look perfect for today!

Fernando and Aminah.

The sun is starting to go down.

It was around this time that the wind started to die down.

But we were still quite far from home! Chago started the engine again, but it died. he didn't think it was out of fuel, but after a couple of spurts and starts we definitely came to that conclusion. We coasted along slowly, but could have walked faster. It started getting dark and eventually he got on the phone and called his son to come out in a motorboat and tow us in!

One of the rich parts of town.

Ruth, jessie, Chago, and Alison.
Waiting for Chago's son to come and get us.

We are heading out at 11:30am this morning for our paragliding expedition! Conditions appear to be perfect, so it should be a lot of fun!
