And we knew that. In fact the price we're paying in rent is more reflective of a totally empty place that you would have to furnish yourself anyhow.
So I kind of figured we would be spending at least $5,000 CAD ($3,600 USD) to get the place set up the way we want it.
We never get tired of our view here!
And although we have a lot of the kitchen accessories available to us because we have Igor's kitchen set up, there will soon come a time where Igor won't be here (because we will be driving him south) so the kitchen here needs to be set up on its own.
So while we were away, there was the big Buen Fin sale that they do here in Mexico prior to Black Friday. So we bought a bunch of stuff then, but we still need to buy more.
It was almost like Christmas!
So we bought a toaster, a coffee maker, an electric kettle, cutlery, a knife block set, cookware, wine glasses, 2 hair dryers (one for each bathroom), and some shower shelves for each bathroom.
But, there is still more we need that we'll order today.
Oh, and our furniture will be delivered this weekend! We're excited about that. We had a kitchen island built, a sink cabinet and countertop, two coffee tables, two wardrobe closets, and four bedside tables. I was in touch with the carpenter yesterday and he said everything would be delivered this weekend.
And, we had an upholsterer in town making us new cushions for the downstairs couch. They will be ready on Thursday. A little expensive, but we chose expensive material. Hopefully they turn out the way we hope.
So, things are coming together. We still need to decide what we're doing with decorating. Pictures, house plants, that kind of thing.
We resumed our Spanish lessons yesterday. Our "teacher" thinks we've made some good improvements since we started with her in early October. And we think we have as well.
Headed into town today to go to the bank and pick up a few things.

Are you planning on purchasing this house, or renting a storage unit for everything when you have to leave? You have always traveled lite in the past.

It's about time.
No, we are not planning on buying this house but we are planning on renting it over a longer period of time. We have agreed to rent it for a year and if all goes well we will continue to rent it for as long as we decide we want to continue to use it as a home base. The plan is to rent it out on Airbnb/Booking.com for the times that we aren't here using it ourselves or even when we are here we can rent out the bottom room when we don't have guests of our own here. Hopefully this way we can help to recoup the costs of the rent and the items that we have bought to furnish/outfit it. When we no longer want to stay here, we can try to sell some of the items or just walk away from it and leave it to Chago, the owner of the property or even continue to rent it out for him and take a percentage of the income that he would make renting it out on Airbnb. He is not very business savy wihen it comes to advertising this place, especially on the internet, this is why the place has been empty so long, so this would certainly be an added bonus for him after we end up leaving.
