Enjoying this time of year in Mexico

First of all, yes, we know that there has been some kind of glitch accessing this blog. But if you're reading this then you've obviously got through it. 

This happened once before, a few months ago, and it resolved itself on its own after a couple of days. Hopefully this time will be the same.

This is the first time we've been in Mexico during July and August. And we're really enjoying being here in Valle de Bravo right now. People often think that it is baking hot in Mexico at this time of year, and of course the coast and some other areas are definitely hot. 

But where we are is located at 1,800 meters (5,900') altitude, and it's rainy season. The temperature right now is highs of 25C (75F) and lows of 14C (59F). Perfect, in our minds.

We weren't exactly sure what to expect with rainy season. It turns out that it's beautiful and sunny in the mornings. The wind picks up around noon, and the clouds move in. They call for rain every day, but sometimes it's just a few drops, and other times we get major thunderstorms with a dumping of rain.

We had a fantastic thunder and lightning storm yesterday!

And everything is so green.

So, we do our daily 5 km (3 mile) power walk every morning around 9:00am, and then whatever running around we have to do. Then in the afternoon, we do spend time on our balcony where we can enjoy the perfect temperatures while watching the weather do whatever it's going to do.

On our walk, we noticed that a young guy opened a new motorcycle and ATV repair shop. So we stopped in and spoke to him the other day. I want to do a service on our ATV... change the oil, do a tune up, check and adjust the brakes, check and adjust the wheel alignment... that kind of thing. So it turns out we're going to bring it in on Monday. Total cost will be 1,350 pesos ($109 CAD, $78 USD) for everything, including parts. Not bad.

We often stop by and pick up a couple of things in town during our walk. The other day, we walked by a guy with a bunch of fruits and veggies in the back of his truck. Ruth casually mentioned to him that he had a lot of mangos! He says "do you want a couple?" and hands them over. Ruth offered to pay, but he wouldn't accept any money. It's towards the end of mango season, and he probably picked them in his backyard!
