Yesterday, we had two sets of friends visit!
Long time readers might remember Aly and Martin. We first met them in February of 2022 in Turkiye, and we saw them again last year when we were visited them at their home here in England near York.
They drove up for a visit yesterday, and took us for lunch in the nearby town of Yarm.
High street in Yarm, England.
Pretty little alleyway.
Lunch at the pub.
Kevin, Ruth, Aly, Martin.
Ruth had the jacket potato.
I had the sausage and mashed potato.
It was a lunchtime special, so the meals were only about £10 ($18.70 CAD, $13.70 USD) each with a wine or beer included. Not bad value!
Then Helen and Tony arrived with their motorhome late afternoon. We'll spend today and tomorrow with them.
And bad news... we received a note this morning that our hosts are returning early because she had a mishap with her bicycle and has fractured her wrist. So they will be coming back tomorrow evening. Fortunately, it's a big house, and they've said that we should stay and not change our plans.

Oh no! As a fellow cyclist who has broken a couple of bones over the years, I really feel for your host. I'm so sorry to hear this. Glad it will still work out. And glad you got to get together with friends.
ReplyDeleteYeah, we feel really bad that Elaine broke wrist, not a thing you want to happen (as you are familiar with) but especially not a holiday. We are glad that they don't mind us staying on for our final two days of our house sit and actually it might be a good thing to have us here because she may need surgery. This way we will be here to watch the dogs and to walk them as they visit the doctor's and possibly be at the hospital for a longer period of time during their first day or two back. Hopefully she won't need surgery.
DeleteNever broke a bone cycling but just my pride was hurt a couple of times riding full speed downhill and hit a pot hole...I went flying and tore up my pants and a few scrapes. Back in the day when a helmet was not required lol
ReplyDeleteYou were very lucky not to have injured yourself other than a few scrapes!
