A typical day

I hesitate to post when nothing's going on... it feels too much like work, and we certainly don't want to get to the point where writing the blog feels like work. If that ever happens, there will be no more blog!

And really, there's been nothing exciting going on this week... until today.

And, I've had a minor cold this week. It started Monday morning... probably as a result of lack of sleep during my time away with the boys. And, one of them had arrived with a minor cold, and it was spreading. So I guess I caught it, and so there was no going over to visit my mother until it was gone. Fortunately it never got very bad, and this morning it's pretty much gone.

We've got a good routine going here now. We typically get up anywhere between 6:30am and 7:30am. Make ourselves a couple of hot drinks, and then some computer time and breakfast until 9:30 or 10:00am when we then head out to the gym.

Scenery along the way.

It's exactly a 3 km (1.8 miles) power walk to the gym. So, just under a half an hour, and just enough time to get the blood flowing for the upcoming workout.

Then, between 45 minutes to an hour at the gym. So far, this gym hasn't been very busy at that time of day, and there is a wide variety of equipment, so no waiting for other people in between exercises. We're really enjoying it.

Then of course the 3 kms back home. So by the time we get home, the morning is gone and it's almost lunch time!

The afternoon, we do any running around... actually, yesterday, Ruth stayed home and made chocolate chip cookies, while I took the minivan to the airport and exchanged it for a Volkswagen Jetta. I also stopped at Home Depot and bought a new showerhead that our landlord had agreed to pay for.

Then late afternoon a few games of backgammon and then it's dinner time, followed by a couple of hours of watching a movie or something on the laptop. We're currently watching a British travel series called Race Across the World.

But today, we are foregoing the gym time in order to go hiking! Regular readers will remember our friends Bob and Denise who came on two of the Mexico RV Caravans we did. They live an hour south of here, and we're meeting them at Charleston Lake Provincial Park this morning to do a 13 km (8 mile) hike. Looking forward to that! So we'll have photos from that for you tomorrow.
