Nashville (day 2)

Tuesday April 14…10:00pm

We walked down to the mall at around 9:45am to catch the bus downtown. It was only one bus, a 50 minute ride, and it took us right to the center of Nashville. Cost was $1.60 US ($2.00 CAN) each, one way.

Nashville appears to be a very clean city. No graffiti anywhere, and no garbage.

So we’re in Nashville, and there is LOTS to do if you’re a country music fan. But we’re not country music fans…so what to do? We went to the visitor center and got a map of their self guided walking tour…2 miles through downtown. Stopped at the Tennessee State Museum, and that was pretty well done. And, it’s free, just the way museums should be. Canada could learn from this! They had a lot of local historical artifacts. Ruth had packed a lunch and we ate in the lobby of the arts center. It was chilly outside, the high was only 55F (12C) and it was cloudy. Never did rain though.

Then we walked over to a bridge that had been restored and was reopened only for pedestrians. It gave a great view of the downtown area.

Nashville stadium, and a barge on the river. The water level is pretty high.

Downtown Nashville

Saw the Coyote Ugly Bar. See the pictures so you can see what their rules are. Sounds like it would be a fun place!

The Coyote Ugly Bar

Walked down the Broadway bar strip. I’m sure that would be a happening place on a Friday or Saturday night.

The bus was good, and we made it back to Whiskey in time for her supper at 4pm. Didn’t spend any money except for the the bus ride there and back.

Might have been more fun to be there in the evening and visit some of the bars, but we had Whiskey to look after, and so that will have to wait for another visit.

Tomorrow, we’re off to Mammoth Cave National Park, and then towards Lexington, Kentucky.
