Our route yesterday took us from Arcelia up into the mountains south of Valle de Bravo. It's a little busier route, especially when we got back on highway 134 that runs up to Toluca.
Again, lots of nice scenery... but with a lot more truck traffic.
Scenery along the way.
The road was in really good condition.
Our route was taking us really close to the "other" paragliding launch pad that's close to Valle de Bravo. It's located about an hour from here past the opposite side of the lake from our house and we've never been. It's also the location where they do the flight training for pilots who want to fly solo!
A bit of a rough road to get in there!
We got ourselves parked up at Hangar 5, which is a place where all the pilots hang out. They have camping, cabins for rent, a restaurant... it's actually really nicely done.
And lots of paragliding activity!
We sat and talked with some of the pilots. Really interesting, since I really want to take the course to learn how to do it solo. We overheard one guy say he had done 134 kms and been in the air for seven and a half hours! Amazing!
Coming in for a landing.
Lots of folks up there having fun!
Flying close to El Penon.
El Penon at dusk.
Nice sunset last night.
Igor had a great view of the sunset!
So, we're only about an hour drive from home! Should be back just after lunch.
Oh, before we go, here's a video of highway 134 heading up from Ixtapa. This was the section where there was almost zero traffic for about 100 kms...
