The cost of entrance is happiness and a smile

We woke up Tuesday morning, and we were the only ones in the park other than a few employees cleaning up a little trash left over from the long weekend.

But it was time for us to move on as well. Just to another part of the park to access some different hiking trails.

Our first stop was only a few kms down the road.

Igor, all by himself.

We only stopped there as somewhere to park to access a trail. There was nobody around, but we ended up paying 50 pesos to park.

There was a series of trails, but we crossed through a wire fence (that had been cut) to access them. There were no signs saying not to, so we continued on.

Ruth on the trail.

Once again, lots of cool rock formations.

Ruth, admiring the view.

Me, taking a photo.

Actually, I was taking a video. It gives a better view of what I was seeing...

Weird looking rock face.

Gorgeous views.

Ruth will be 64 years old in a week and a half.
She's doing great!

Another interesting boulder.

And another short video...

Scenery along the way.

So we're hiking along and all of a sudden come across this "Private Property" sign.

But reading what it says made us relax!
"The cost of entrance is happiness and a smile"

There was a little shade setup.

From there, we turned around and went back to Igor for lunch. Afterwards, we headed towards the town of Mineral del Chico. This is an old silver mining town in the mountains. It's not what you would call RV friendly, but I figured Igor could make it through, and maybe we would even find somewhere to stay overnight.

Yikes. This is the road we had to go down.

I actually got a little afraid of what lay ahead, so I pulled over into that laneway ahead on the left. then I walked down. I found that yes, we could make it through and at the bottom was a parking area in someone's yard. It was actually fairly level, and I spoke to Jaime, the guy manning the booth at the entrance. He was very friendly, and said we could park for the night for 100 pesos ($7.65 CAD, $5.45 USD). He even pointed out an electrical outlet we can use if necessary.

We are parked beside the toilet!

But the toilet is surprisingly clean, and even has a toilet seat! A rare commodity here in Mexico.

So... it turns out that this is a decent spot to stay a few days.

We decided to go for a walk down the hill to a waterfall.

There are a lot of interesting rental cabanas in the town.

We had to pay 50 pesos each to the local ejido to enter the waterfall areas.

Pretty waterfall.

Old mine infrastructure.

Another waterfall.

Pretty caterpillar.

Another old mine entrance.

We carry a bright light with us so that we can check these things out!

Old mining tunnel.

Ruth crossing a suspension bridge.

Ruth and another pretty waterfall.

We are probably going to stay here a few days. Lots to see in the area, and it's a pretty little town.
