The credit card is getting a workout!

In the past week or so I've booked a whole bunch of flight tickets. Our expensive Halifax to Ottawa flights on August 28th, our fairly expensive one way flights from Ottawa to Mexico City (connecting in Toronto) on October 8th, and I just finished booking our daughter and her family tickets to Mexico City!

In case you missed it, we're going to have a house near Valle de Bravo starting in October. And we're already making plans on the best way to make use of it.

One of those plans is to have our daughter Lindsey and her family come for a visit. And this time, even her husband Justin is going to join in! Justin doesn't enjoy traveling as much, and he doesn't like hot weather countries. But the temperature at Valle de Bravo at the end of January is between 20C to 24C... perfect.

So, I started looking at ticket prices. They live in Halifax, so normally they would have to fly to Montreal or Toronto in order to connect to Mexico City. But United had a route flying Halifax to Newark with an overnight stay and then connecting to Mexico City. The best part was the price!

Round trip was only $417 USD ($571 CAD) per person! What a deal. Even with having to pay $100 for an airport hotel in Newark both ways, it's still a deal. Not only that, but it has good flight times.

So it's booked. I didn't expect to book it so soon, I just wanted to get an idea of pricing, and then I could watch for a deal. But the deal presented itself right away, so we jumped on it.

They're going to have so much fun in that area. We're going to spend the first night in Mexico City so they can see the highlights, and then take the bus to Valle de Bravo. The timing is perfect to take them to see the monarch butterflies so that will be on the agenda as well. We love showing people some of our favorite things in Mexico!

Anyway, that's still six months away. It's not often we have anything booked that far in advance, but we do now.

So, back to the present. Yesterday we walked to the center of town to the bank that ate my debit card over the weekend. They won't give it back to me without my passport. I had all of my other ID with me, but rules are rules. So we'll make a return trip another day.

Today, we are going canyon hiking! The first time we were in Berat in 2021, we did the Osumi River Rafting trip. But at this time of year, the water level is too low for rafting, so they do a canyon hike that involves swimming. Should be fun!
