Dental work complete!

We walked into town and back three times yesterday. It doesn't feel like much at the time because it's only 2kms each way, but when you do it there and back three times it adds up to 12 kms (7.5 miles) throughout the day!

The first time was for my final dental appointment at 9:00am.

The pedestrian area at Berat.

But I didn't realize that the 9am appointment was just for the fitting of the bridge. Then, they had to take it back to the lab and do the final polishing and I was to return again at noon. We didn't have anything else to do for a couple of hours, so we walked back to the apartment, and returned downtown again at noon.

Glad to have all that done. I was speaking to the dentist about my lower teeth which are very crooked and the possible ways to fix that. He can do crowns on all six teeth across the bottom center for a total cost of 48,000 lek ($785 CAD, $571 USD). I've had enough of the dentist for now, but maybe I'll get that done next year.

We walked back downtown again in the evening. We went out for dinner, and then took in some of the festival going on this weekend.

It's rare to see Tomorr Mountain without any clouds on it.
Lots of people heading into the center!

Ruth at dinner.

Dinner was typical Albanian fare.
I had the meatballs and Ruth had "terracotta meat" which was some kind of stew with sauce. And we shared a plate of grilled veggies.

Including a glass of wine each, and a shot of after dinner raki, the bill was 1,900 lek ($31 CAD, $22.50 USD).

Then we carried on to the festival.

It was quite busy!

We listened to the music for a while.

Lots of people drinking beer and having fun!

The Gorica Bridge at night.

Today, we are going to do a day trip to the Byllis Archeological Park.

And in Canada...

  1. Amazing, one crown is well over $1K here. My mother has crooked bottom teeth too, and her dentist pulled one, so the others filled in, and they aren't nearly so crooked. Hers were very crowded as well, though; yours might not be. But six crowns...ouch. Glad you got everything done for this visit, anyway. Hope the repair holds up well!

    1. It really is a great price. Kevin's bottom are pretty crooked too but I am not sure that removing one of teeth would help. He has never been happy with them. He will think about getting the six crowns done next year but for now, he feels like he has had enough dental work to last him for a year, lol!

So far he is really happy with his new bridge. The dentist and the guy who made the bridge were very fussy about the fitting of the bridge, having given Kevin two different appointments for fittings before installing the bridge. Kevin likes it even more then the old one that he had.
