We did something a little different yesterday!

This is our third time in Istanbul. As far as big cities go, we kinda like it. Especially the Kadikoy area where our friend Cheryl lives. Lots going on, a 15 minute walk to all ferries and public transit, and really nice park space nearby.

We are going to enjoy the next week looking after Gus the dog. Especially with the perfect weather forecast!

Sunshine, and temps are 20C (68F), or a degree or two below. Just fine for us!

Gus the dog loves his spot on the deck.

There is a really good power walk exercise route that we do. just over 5 kms (3 miles) with a couple of different stops to do some muscle workouts as well...

Ruth, using the outdoor exercise machines.

Then a couple of kilometers along the waterfront path.

Walking, jogging, or cycling... your choice!

Zoomed in across the bay.

A fancy yacht going by.

We did something a little different yesterday.

Grocery shopping!

Other than a few bits and pieces here and there, we haven't really done a proper grocery shop since last October!

And yes, prices have gone up just like everywhere else in the world. Turkiye has been hit especially hard, with annual inflation running at over 60%. Fortunately for us, the value of the Canadian dollar versus the Turkish lira has increased by 64% over the last year, so it's kind of a wash for us.

Not so good for the Turkish people of course, although you would never know it by the number of people out enjoying the sidewalk cafes and bars in this area. And, alcohol is expensive to begin with here in Turkiye. I bought a couple of beers to take home, and they were almost as expensive as in Canada. You can still get a decent bottle of wine for cheaper than Canada though, so at least there's that.

And, totally happy to be back in Turkiye where we get really good yoghurt at a reasonable price! And loads of cheese and fresh fruits and veggies that are also inexpensive.

Another beautiful day... almost time for our walk.

And in Canada...
