Next stop, Ireland!

We board the ferry in three hours for a scheduled 28 hour trip from Spain to Ireland. I think this will be the longest that I've ever been on a boat. The last longest time was when we took Sherman from La Paz to Mazatlan in Mexico. That ferry ride was 17 hours.

Ruth has been on a cruise ship before, when she did a party cruise with her work from Tampa Bay to Cozumel back in the 1990's. But I've never been on a cruise.

We're sailing on the Salamanca, a fairly new ship, put in service in the spring of 2022. It has two restaurants, a tapas bar, two other bars, a premium lounge, and two cinemas. They actually call it a cruise ferry.

We even get 1.5 hours each of free satellite WiFi!

Should be fun. We did not book a cabin. It's already costing us €401 for Max and ourselves to sail across, and cabins are well over €100 extra so we'll make do in the reclining seats.

Bilbao, Spain to Rosslare, Ireland.

Speaking of booking travel, I booked our flights back to Ottawa. It's the Air France flight from Paris to Ottawa August 31st. Then returning from Halifax to Paris (connecting in Toronto) on October 14th.

Cost was €574 ($861 CAD, $644 USD) per person. Still have to book the Ottawa to Halifax leg, but I can wait a while to do that.

We sat in the marina parking lot yesterday afternoon. Nice day, lots of people out enjoying the sun.

It's a bit of an industrial area, but seems popular anyhow.

View from the village of Zierbena.

Looking back at the village.

Can you see Max?

Gotta go get in line for boarding. Next stop, Ireland!

    1. We intend to have a blast, hopefully the weather will cooperate for us though. We aren't going to start off on the right foot though as it is cloudy, overcast and wet at the moment.

You would think with all the hiking that we do that we would see at least one leprechaun out there, lol!
