We finally made it into the mountains!

Mostly cloudy yesterday as we made or way into the mountains west of Madrid. We ended up at the town of La Adrada where they have a motorhome service area to empty and fill our tanks, and somewhere to park for the night.

The parking isn't ideal, it's in a kind of a residential area. But the area surrounding the town has so many hiking trails and walks that we can do that without having to drive anywhere that we'll probably stay put for another night.

Heading into the mountains...

The backroads are actually in pretty good shape so far.

Lots of these yellow bushes out in bloom.

Arrived in the town of La Adrada.

We went for a hike later in the day. As I said, there are so many trails in the area...

Looking back at La Adrada Castle.
This morning, we are headed up that hill on the other side of the castle!

We ended up doing about 7 kms (4.5 miles)... just a nice warm-up hike compared to what we have planned for today!

Looks like our blue sky has returned!

  1. Lovely mountains and landscapes. Thanks. Glad you are having good times. (Spectacular yellow flowering bushes....wonder if they are related to the Med variety of mimosas. What a spot of color.)

    1. We love the mountains, and can't wait to do a good hike in them. The yellow bushes are really pretty especially when they have the purple lavender plant mixed in among the bushes. I think the yellow bushes are either Spanish Broom or Scotch Broom and it doesn't look like it is related to the mimosas.
