A perfect day

What a perfect day we had yesterday. Perfect weather, and a perfect campsite by the river. If we didn't have more exploring to do, we might have stayed even longer but we want to see San Angelo State Park today, and we have a booking with a Boondockers Welcome host tomorrow.

Spent most of the morning cleaning Sherman. Then after lunch, we took the kayak out on the river!

It's a bit of a pain setting the kayak up. From the time we get it out of it's space under the couch, to the time it's ready to go in the river is about a half an hour. Then of course it all has to be dried up and cleaned up and put away again.

But, when you don't have anything better to do, it's not that big of a deal!

Almost did some white water!

Ruins from an old Spanish fort.

There's Sherman!
I think he must be the most photographed motorhome ever!

Heading back.

We were able to do 45 minutes. The river gets too shallow upstream, and then the dam blocks us off downstream. But, we enjoyed the ride and it's a bit of exercise.

Then, it was back to Sherman to sit outside and have a beverage and a few games of backgammon.

Our spot by the river.

So, we're heading to San Angelo State Park this morning where we'll do some more hiking and biking. This state park is also where some members of the official Texas longhorn cattle herd live, so hopefully we'll see some of those!

Sunshine and blue sky again today. Supposed to be a little warmer, with a high of 88F (31C).

And in Canada...

    1. It was wonderful to be out there on the water but it would have been even nicer if we could have paddled further in either direction and I guess we probably could have if we had wanted to portage.

We think Sherman was very happy there. :-)

    1. We were just saying that the kayak was worth it. Hopefully we will be able to get it out a fair bit this summer.

  4. We love our Kayak too but sometimes it is just easier to go for a walk. Hope you stay warm for a while longer.

    1. Sometimes it is easier but sometimes you can't walk along the river bank or lake shore so it is nice to see things from a different angle.

We intend to stay south for as long as possible, our fingers are crossed that as we start to head really north that spring may finally start showing itself.

    1. I had that book as a young child but I don't think I had ever read it. I think at the time I was just a little too young for it or not interested in it, now I wish I had read it.
