Ruth's brother's new trailer...

Pretty busy weekend here at the park. Not sold out, but busier than we expected it would be based on the reservations that came in May and June. Lots of last minute people calling to see if we have availability because the weather has been so good.

And, there are NO mosquitoes. Well, perhaps one or two. But compared to last year, there are none.

But one hazard of this good weather is that we could have a fire ban soon. That decision is made by the local RM (Rural Municipality). We haven't had any rain to speak of for over two weeks now, and of course with the fires burning in British Columbia, nobody wants them to start up here. So I expect the powers that be will be extra careful.

Calling for 3 mms (about 1/8 inch) tomorrow, so we'll see if that happens. But it's so little it probably won't help at all.

Lots of people enjoying the day, and our new swim raft is getting plenty of use.
Check out the dog on the back of the boat.

He sure seemed quite at home jumping from the back to the front and back again.

Ruth's brother Colin is here visiting with his girlfriend Brenda, and they are here with their new to them travel trailer. It's a 2011 model made by Cikira... the company was only in business between 2006 and 2011 and built small (14 to 25 ft) lightweight travel trailers and fifth wheel trailer.

Their trailer is a 2011 Cikira 160FD Retro Lite. It weighs only 1,830 lbs so they can easily tow it with their small Hyundai SUV.

Brenda and Colin with their new "Retro-Lite" travel trailer.

It has all plastic body panels on a steel frame.

I was going to take some photos of the interior for you, but decided a quick video was a better idea...

Nice little trailer! I don't know what they paid for theirs, but I found a couple for sale in the U.S. for between $6,500 and $7,500 USD.

Ruth, Brenda, and Colin.

We were pretty busy on the weekend, so didn't spend much time visiting with them, but we did manage to get together for a game of cards last night. They'll stay a couple more days and then head east back to Ottawa.

  1. Cute little trailer. I think I could go for something like that myself. Of course, if I didn't mind going off on my own....

    1. Yep, cute little trailer. Nice to have for little trips like they are doing but not something we would want to full time in.

    1. Has pretty much everything that you need in it without it being too cluttered.

  3. Wow, looks like a very efficient and comfy trailer. We currently have a 32 foot trailer which is bigger than we now need. As we plan a lot of North American travel in the next few years, we are looking at changing from a trailer to a Volkswagen camper van, Roadtrek or camper topper for our Silverado. Exciting times!

    1. Yep, it seems very efficient and Colin and Brenda seem pretty happy with it. He did say he wanted to make a few minor changes when he gets home but overall it has worked out well for them.

The only problem with going down to a Vokswagen camper or camper topper is that you want to make darn sure you are going to places with good weather because that is a awful small area to be "trapped" into for days at a time if the weather isn't good. ;-)

    1. Yes, we are enjoying their visit. Too bad we have to work so much because although we have spent some time with them, it really hasn't been a lot of time. Hoping to get in a small hike with them this afternoon, now that the weather has cooled down a tiny bit.

    1. For their first long trip in it (just over a month) they seem to be very happy with it.
