Sherman's twin brother!

It was a nice day with a clear blue sky and we wanted to see more of the fall colors. So we had planned on having an early lunch and then going for a drive up to the ski resort area at Calabogie, Ontario.

But I had to wait for an important phone call at 1:00pm, so we rescheduled our time and had lunch at the normal hour and then took off after lunch. We'll tell you more about that important phone call on Saturday!

Calabogie is located about 100 kms (62  miles) east of Ottawa. It's close proximity to the city means that it's a popular cottage area in the summer, and popular ski resort in the winter.

Taken from a roadside rest stop near Burnstown, Ont.

The trees in this are are more yellow than red.

The Madawaska River.

Ruth, with Tony's dog Taffy.

A big maple tree.

Ruth, Taffy, and Ruth's dad Tony. And the little black rental car!

Calabogie Peaks ski resort.

We drove about 15 minutes further past Calabogie to the hydro dam.

At the top of the dam.

Norcan Lake.

On the road. Literally.

We drove through the village of Calabogie and stopped at another rest stop. As we were pulling in, Ruth and I spotted Sherman's brother! We both said, "hey, that looks like Sherman"!

As we got closer, we realized that it really was Sherman's twin brother. And even with two bicycles on the back.

Not quite, because there were some minor differences. I think this one was one year newer. It was the same length, but it had a different interior layout because there was no kitchen window, and the fresh water fill was in a different location.

Sherman's brother.

On the way back, we had to stop for a photo of this row of colorful maple trees.

But one of the prettiest was right back in the village of Galetta.

I notice that the popular "Happy Campers" brand of RV holding tank treatment has had a price drop. Possibly reducing end of season inventory? Stock up now if you're getting low...

  1. Crazy about Sherman's twin!!! Did you get to talk with them?

We were in AZ last spring and we pulled into our first stop at the Grand Canyon we saw our motorhome's twin (1984 class A ElDorado Encore) in the parking lot. It was very weird. Our motorhome was back in MN at the time but we stopped and talked with the man... Crazy coincidence that we were both there at the same time. Strange how things like that happen!!!

The pictures today were beautiful!!! Love fall.

    1. No, but now that Barry Campbell piped in, I am wishing that we had! :-(

We did it once before back during our 1st or 3rd winter when we went to a baseball game that our son was playing and there was Sherman's big brother. He looked exactly the same but he was a little longer than Sherman. It is definitely funny when these odd encounters happen, isn't it?!

  2. Stunning fall colors due to some wonderful photography.

I think you made an error, that is Sherman's sister. She has flirty trim lines in a lovely pinky burgundy color.

    1. Thank you Contessa, they certainly were stunning.

You are correct, it would have been Sherman's twin sister!

  3. Beautiful colours. We are just getting rain/wind/rain/wind. The leaves have changed colour but are quickly blowing off the trees so no pretty pictures.

    1. Yep, it is pretty neat when that happens. It would have been even better had we shown up there with Sherman rather than the little black car.

    1. Too funny! When all the blinds are closed we don't like to disturb people, plus we actually thought (not knowing it was you) that the occupants were out for a walk/hike. Such a shame! Are you are going to be anywhere near Ottawa or Galetta in the next week?

    2. Blinds were down as the afternoon as the sun was building up the heat inside. About that time we would have been inside having a sandwich. Unfortunately we have now left the Ottawa area and are currently in Sherbrooke Quebec visiting Jeannies Dad. Hopefully our paths will cross again would love to have had a visit with you two.

    3. We are kicking oursleves now for not knowcking but we didn't want to bother anyone who might have been in side sleeping. :-(

As you said, perhaps we will meet down the road sometime. Enjoy your time at Jeannie's family.
