Okay, now we're starting to get a little jealous...

Yes, we received another postcard from Sherman. He's in Canmore, Alberta just at the base of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, and about to enter Banff National Park. We love that part of the country, and it's been quite a few years since we last visited that area. I think it was the end of August 2006, so almost ten years.

So, we're starting to get just a little jealous!

What a view Sherman has...

Sherman loves the mountains!

On other news, we've completed one more warranty problem. Ruth had been having a problem with the keyboard on the Asus laptop that we bought last July. There is a 12 month warranty, but we had to send it to the Toronto repair center to get it fixed under warranty. The terms are that we have to pay the shipping to send it in, but the repair was free, and they pay the shipping back.

It arrived back here on Wednesday. So including shipping times, it took exactly two weeks to get it repaired. Can't ask for much better than that, and Asus was really pleasant and efficient to deal with. The only thing I didn't like was that it cost us $20 to send it in.

I think it's fine that they make you pay to send it in, but I think you should be reimbursed that money if it is found to be a warranty problem that is their responsibility. If it's not a warranty problem, then fine, you pay the shipping. Anyhow, for $20 it's not a disaster and Ruth is happy to have her laptop back.

The problem was the "keyboard module"...some kind of electronic module that controls the keyboard. They replaced it with a new one.

Our new houseguest Coho has really settled in. He was pretty shy the first few days, but now he's made himself right at home.

Well, he is just a baby after all.

Coho.

Ruth went to town on Wednesday to do groceries and took a few pics along the way.

Fox in a field.

Pronghorn family.

Fox family.

Fox youngster.

Deer in the park.

It's been quieter than normal in the park so far this year. Not sure what to attribute that to. There are still quite a few seasonal campers who haven't brought their trailers in, and day to day camper reservations are down too. Still have a few openings for July 1st long weekend, but if the weather turns out to be good those will fill up quickly. And most weekends in July are filling up as well.

This is a pretty neat item for the avid traveler!

  1. So neat that you guys see foxes on a regular basis, usually they are so shy but that area has few trees so they must be easier to spot

    1. This is the first year that we have seen the foxes regularly but they aren't near the park, they are on the road going to/coming back from Swift Current and just about every week we get to see them and almost always in the same area. We love seeing them. :-)

    1. It is a pretty area that we live at here for the summer. Not so sure I would say it's pretty if we had to spend the winter here though! ;-)

  5. Great post and pics of the wildlife, and Sherman definitely looks as if he's having a great time. Just curious as to who will look after Coho when you leave.

    1. We have seen more wildlife here this year than all the other years, we love it!

We don't know yet who will take Coho. Hopefully we can either find him a forever home or maybe someone will take him for the winter and then we can take him back next spring/summer. If all else fails the lady that gave him to us will take him back but he will become an outdoor cat once again. We are pretty confident that it will all work itself out.

  6. I vividly recall that, within six months of buying my Nikon, (which is now why I'm no longer such a big fan, switched to Canon) I had to send it in for repairs.
    To Mississauga.
    I was in the Netherlands!
Not convenient. Cost me something north of twenty Euros, and then they'd send it to my house in Canada for free, or ship it overseas for a hundred bucks.
Thankfully Daughter Number one was coming for a visit and brought it to me. It never did quite work the way I liked, and it's now been retired, as the lens decided to go for a nap.
I think you didn't do too badly, although as you say, they should eat the shipping if it's an issue with their product. Otherwise what? You have live down the street from the repair facility??

    1. I sure wish they would make this warranty stuff easier for the consumer. Too many times it just makes you want to throw the item in the garbage and go out and buy something new. You were so lucky that your daughter was coming over to visit, seems like that got time perfectly.

We agree, if you had an actual warranty issue that once the company looks at it and fixes it, they should then reimburse you the shipping. I sure would be "great" customer service then.

    1. Coho is definitely a cutie!

I wouldn't say he is jealous of Sherman, but the fact that someone else is with him and seeing these beautiful vistas and not us! :-(

  8. Coho is such a cutie! Glad ASUS came through, my keyboard also went caput, but I simply replaced it myself with a new one I got on eBay for about $11---amazing how cheap parts are these days.

    1. Yep, he really is and boy can he purr!

We will keep that in mind for another time but seeing that the computer was still under warranty we figured that they could fix it or even possibly replace it.

    1. Every time we make our weekly drive to Swift Current we almost always see some kind of wildlife. This has definitely been our best year so far for seeing such a huge variety of wildlife though.

  11. I think Sherman is confused at seeing so many RVs up close every night. He's a loner!

    1. He is doing some boondocking or "wild camping" as the Brits like to call it. So he isn't up close to others every night. Don't forget he did have a little company when we were leading that caravan group for the month in Mexico.
