Travel day today!

I like travel days.

Our regular readers know that we don't like sitting in one place for too long. Even if it's a place that we like! We'd rather have a change of scenery.

So today, we take the RV caravan group on to it's next destination.

And we especially like short travel days. Our next destination is only 37 kms (23 miles) away! And because it's a short distance, we don't leave until 10:00am. So hopefully we'll be all parked up at the next spot before noon and we'll be able to enjoy the rest of the day.

Yesterday, we went for a drive with Larry and Anne. They wanted to see what's around the lake, so offered to take us with them.

A nice lookout over the lake.

It's a big enough lake.

We stopped in at a new development where they're building some houses overlooking the lake. There looked to be about 20 guys there building walls and putting in the services. No houses started yet, but there did seem to be a community building of some kind.

Lots of big volcanic rock to move around.

And they built this odd path that leads to nowhere.

I'd like to stop in a couple of years from now and see what's come of the place.

At 3:00pm, we had restaurant reservations with the group. Yep, strange time. We didn't know whether to call it lunch, or dinner! One of the seasonal campers here at Chimulco had organized it, and everybody in our group went along.

Group lunch. Or dinner...we're not sure!

They had rabbit on the menu. Fresh rabbit!

We all stuck with the chicken. It was a good meal though. Ruth and I split a whole chicken, with rice and salad and tortillas and salsa. Including a couple of beers and a tip, the bill was 200 pesos ($16.00). And we had enough left over chicken to take some home for lunch. I love Mexico.

The daughters of our waitress. They sure were happy kids!

Gotta get things packed up and ready to go! Next stop, Roca Azul RV Resort.

I don't know about you, but I love being in a hammock. Here's a nice big lightweight one, on sale today only. Great five star reviews!

And in Canada...external hard drives have come way down in price...

  1. It would be difficult for me to see the live bunny and a few minutes later eating it. But I guess they are a popular item since there were cages full of them. Chickens are not so cute. Or alive.

I'm enjoying your daily travels with the caravan. Makes me want to consider one for next year. Looks like everyone is having a very good time. Thanks!

    1. We are the same way, there is no way we could have eaten those cute rabbits. Having said that we actually didn't see them until after we had eaten but no worries, none of us had ordered the rabbit from the menu.

Glad you are enjoying our daily travels with the caravan. Only one week left with them though, they have been a great group and a good first experience for us.

    1. That is part of the Mexican life down here though and despite all that, they are probably looked after better than some of the chickens that we eat.

  3. Vegan here, so I feel very sorry for the bunnies.

    1. We felt sorry for them too and we aren't vegans but unfortunately that is life.

    1. Poor Thumper is right! ;-)

I have seen rabbit in grocery stores in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico but it really isn't our thing.

    1. They seemed more like pets to me, than dinner. No way could I have eaten them! but obviously they are a popular dish at this restaurant.

  8. Are you SURE you ate chicken? :-) I've been fooled by my Mom when I was a kid! Love the shot of the two cute girls! Sounds like you guys are enjoying the trip! (We've been gone, in Hawaii ... nice!)

    1. Yes, we are sure it was chicken that we were eating. We could see it being cooked. And, my Mum played that same trick on me as well and when I eventually found this out, I was not impressed with her!

The two little girls were sweethearts!

      Enjoy Hawaii. :-)

  9. 3:00 or 4:00 is the usual comida here in Mexico. I'm working at a MX government agency and the mandated lunch hour is 3:00 or 4:00. Pretty late for me.

    1. Yes, we do realize that but it is hard for us to get used to eating at those hours. It is better for your system to eat at that hour as well rather than later in the evening.

  10. You people are so adventure. I want to travel just like you but for me it's next to impossible. I can only take trips once in a year. Had an amazing time reading your blogs and this time comments as well:)

    1. We used to be only able to go away one a year ourselves but have now found a way that we are able to work during the summer and travel during the winter providing we are careful with our money. Your day will come and then you will be able to travel more as well. Where there's a will, there is a way!
