Another package arrives

Actually, two more packages! But that's it...our shopping for this year is done. We spent very little money over the past eight years, but this year it seemed like everything needed to be replaced all at the same time!

We did a fair bit of repair work and improvements to the motorhome this year. New awning, replacement fridge parts, new inverter, new Mr. Buddy propane heater. And of course I'm in the process of re-coating the rubber roof.

And, a whole bunch of repair parts for the little blue car. New timing belt, new water pump, new valve cover gasket. Good thing I can do all these repairs myself without having to pay labor.

And almost all of our electronics needed to be replaced. I got a new laptop in January, and Ruth's arrived last month. Plus a new tablet and a new GPS, and a new long range wi-fi antenna. And in this most recent package? A new camera.

Waterproof to 50 feet. And shock proof.

Seems like the perfect little camera for active travelers like us! Oh, and see that little Wi Fi icon on the front of the camera? That's because this neat little camera can wirelessly transfer your pictures from your camera to your laptop provided you have an available Wi Fi network. Neat stuff.

Not bad for under $200!

And here's the very first pic taken with the little blue camera.

No, Ruth did not pre-approve this photo!

I think it's going to be a good little camera.

Anyhow, that's enough of spending money!

Big rain storm coming through the next 24 hours. Calling for between one and two inches. Not a good start to the camping weekend, and apparently people saw it coming because we don't have any reservations for this weekend. Might be a good day to go up and do some work to the car.

I made a great salmon recipe for dinner last night. Really tasty, and easy to make!

Ingredients

1½ lbs salmon fillets (this was a wild Alaskan sockeye)
2 Tbsp parsley, freshly chopped
2 large or 3 small garlic cloves, pressed
½ Tbsp Dijon mustard
½ tsp salt
⅛ tsp ground black pepper
⅛ cup mild olive oil
2 Tbsp of fresh lemon juice

Preheat the oven to 450° F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil.

In a small bowl, mix together: 2 Tbsp chopped parsley, 2-3 pressed cloves garlic, ½ Tbsp Dijon mustard, ½ tsp salt, ⅛ tsp of pepper, ⅛ cup of olive oil and 2 Tbsp of lemon juice. (Smell it...delicious!)
Slice salmon into even portions. Lay them onto a lined baking dish with the skin-side-down.
Generously brush all sides of salmon with sauce and top with fresh slices of lemon.
Bake at 450°F for 12-15 min or until just cooked through and flaky. Don't over-cook or it will be dry. There you have it! An easy, excellent dish.

  1. Ruth looks sooooo relaxed! We are still at our Delaware summer home. I'm thinking about trying your salmon recipe on the flounder that B has been catching. Sounds yummy! We've been following along - just not posting - busy summer here. ((Hugs)) to both of you - take care!

    1. Yes, cameras have really come a long way in just the last little while. It is almost hard to keep up with it.

  3. Great header picture. You see these great shade trees in the middle of nowhere and you just want to park there. Good picture of Ruth too!

    1. Thanks Chris! Yes, those big trees are so nice but you don't want to park right under it when you have solar panels that need the sun. They are great though for your chairs, providing there are no birds right above you. ;-)

  4. When I got my new camera I was real excited to transfer the pictures from the camera to my laptop via WiFi - until I saw how much of my allowed GBs it used. Only did it once. But I take largest size pics possible. Just check it out first.

    1. I can't see why it would use any of your "allowed GBs" because it's using a Wi-Fi network...not a cellular network....

  5. That is a great camera, I have always had a tiny pocket camera for all our picture taking. The one I have now is very similar Panasonic TS20 Waterproof, shockproof, but no wifi. Love it always in my pocket wherever I go.

    1. It is nice having a camera that will fit in your pocket. We like that when we are in some of the big cities in Mexico, we don't stand out so much that way.

  6. Now we'll look forward to seeing pictures from your travel adventures under the sea... :cD
